360 Problem, Need Help

Ok i just got to work and my cuz tells me his 360 is making a grinding noise but does no harm to the disc itself, plus when he trys to close the tray it opens back up itself, does anybody have any idea whats wrong? This is his second 360 the first had the Dreaded RED! It wont play games anymore just opens and closes... does it need to be cleaned, more ventilated or what, any help is appreciated..

Sounds like the gears inside might be grinding, likely along the laser apparatus or the tray itself. It might be stuck and the tray might not be able to stay open if it's making unnecessary contact with the laser apparatus.

Just a thought, as I'm in no way an expert on the subject. Just tell them not to force the tray in any way. Has he called MS?

I can Def. fix your problem. I work in the digital press video game store (systems repair man). I dont know how close you live to the store but if to far maybe you can mail it to the store and i can fix it (fee unknown). As long as its not the "Dreaded Red" I can fix the drive no problem. reply if your interested.
