And it seems that CoD 4 won't take place during WW2. This can be a good thing, and a bad thing.

Ugh. I am beyond sick of war games -- even good ones. This has got to be a Vietnam or Iraq game. Count me OUT.
Infinity Ward are masters of the FPS genre. I'm interested to see what this turns out to be.
It's certainly not going to be Vietnam. A 40 yr old war isn't exactly "modern warfare" as mentioned in the games title. I also doubt it's Iraq...no game company is going to touch that one for a few years.Originally Posted by agbulls

Yes. Exactly. Do we need another one, even if the gameplay is good? I mean, seriously. How can this do anything BUT perpetuate hate, stereotypes and big sales in the deep south?
Actually given Call of Duty's multi-cultural backgroung you're either going to be looking at Afganistan, or several different armed conflicts around the world. Possibly some in Africa. Although i don't see them doing that and keeping it T rated. I mean what with all the child soldiers and all.
I've heard Infinity Ward is indeed doing this one if so than it should be excellent. Call of Duty 1 and 2 were two of the finest FPS games around.
Call of Duty 3 was by Treyarch so the game wasn't really that good, they redid the multiplayer and made it a buggy class based mess. If you play Call of Duty 2 online it's pretty much flawless.
Call of Duty 4 Out This Week
Well Call of duty 4 comes out this week. The beta was a blast but for me the single player mode seems real interesting.

Since this is leaning more torwards the rpg I expect the action sequences to be ok not out of this world. Compelling story. I haven't seen galaxy exploration this big since Homeworld.

I am picking up COD4 tomorrow... or tuesday my gamestop is "supposed" to get it in early tomorrow.
Assasins creed looks sick, Mass Effect, Smackdown vs. Raw, and Blacksite.... man oh man.... great month for gaming.

I was originally going to pick up Blacksite Area 51 (PC) this week but it looks to have been pushed back. Call of Duty looks like it will be a great alternative. I'll be playing the PC version and I thought the single player demo was great.
Looks like that Circuit City deal is only good on the 360 version...too bad. I did see that Circuiy City will have Gears of War PC for $39.99...that is tempting...
Gamespot said that both the Pc and 360 versions of Blacksite has gone Gold and is Scheduled for release on Nov 12th. Is mass effect 1 disc or 2. I can't see how they would be able to cram all thoses galaxies all on one disc.

Oh and I pre-ordered the PS2 version of Phantasy Star Universe expansion (Gotta buy two copies of that. One PS2, one 360), and Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition (Ebony and Ivory Replicas FTW!).
I've already got the Mass Effect Limited Edition pre-ordered, I'll be pre-ordering Fire Pro Returns, and KOF XI this week, then Neo Geo Battle Coliseum next week.
In fact, the only game I'm not getting this month is Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn. I still need to beat Path of Radiance, as the stories are interconnected, and you can transfer your save over. Too bad my memory card just fried. Oh well, I just bought a new one the other day.
Personally for me, this will go down as quite possibly the greatest gaming month of my life (Yes, even more so than Wii launch last year). But greatest holiday ever? Hm... Holiday 2000 is VERY very tough to beat.

Did you actually play the Blacksite demo? I played it on XBL and was totally unimpressed by it. whole demo lasted 5 minutes, shoot and kill 4 bad guys, see big monster/bug/alien thing. Demo over. It gave me no reason to think that it was just another shooter that had nothing special going for it.
CoD4 will be here whenever it shows from GameStop, but i'm not jumping for the 'campaign' mode in the slightest. From what i've read in reviews, the main game is right in the range of 6 hours. Sounds like there is going to be little replay in that save for achievements. I'm going to be all about the Multiplayer. I sunk enough time into the Beta, figure that i'll end up doing the same with the full online.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Sci-fi always wins out over (WW2--> modern ) war flavored games...I like the little bit of Blacksite.
Does anybody know when CC will have COD4 for sale?
My CC is on the other side of town, I really don't want to drive down tomorrow or Tuesday and find out it's not out yet.

I was watching an in depth interview on gamespots website and the game looks to be really good from the crazy aliens like the one at the end of the demo that went into the ground to one that Is on a bridge that is so large its tentacles hang off. The demo was short but the interview it looked nice
As far as dates go there is no availible date in the ad so I would think nov 6.

This goes out to most of you who replied. Obviously you haven't played the Beta or read the full title. This game is amazing form game play to graphics. By the way you are fighting people from the mid east. Great game I got mine early so I can tell all of you to buy it.
All I can say is WOW! What an awesome game, just started Act III on Veteran. Been playing it for 2 nights now. After getting frustrated on that Heat mission and giving single player a little break...
Loaded up multiplayer, omg easily the best multiplayer shooter I have ever played! Halo 3can't touch this.
Also who talked about it earlier, I almost got this from Circuit City for $29.99 (with cod 3 gold). My sister showed up at 1:30 (they were supposed to start selling at 2), flirted with the guy who rang it up. Only thing that stopped him was management came buy and noticed the problem.
Not sure if I'll ever get my 40k points in COD3 now... I don't want to do anything but put little red dots on all my guns!
