Default E Card Reader with GBA SP

I was just looking at some pictures of the GBA SP (thinking of whether to get one or the original GBA) and noticed that it loads from the front. I wonder how the e card reader fits into it. I mean, it seems like the e card reader would be too big & bulky to fit on the front of the itsy bitsy GBA SP.

Anyone have a GBA SP and a e card reader?
    Pictures would be nice.

The link port plug in the E-Reader fits just above the GBA-SP where it plugs into the cartridge slot, and does function. Apparently the E-Reader in Japan doesn't even have the link port plug unlike the American one, so it must not be very important.
