    Default Neo-Geo cabs and Me

What can I expect to pay for one, where can I get one at a good price, and is maintainance on these fairly easy? Someone please give me some help on this subject, because I really love the fighters available for it, and want to pick them up and play them on my own cab.

Also, does anyone know when the Arcade Auction is in Cherry Hill, NJ?

    Thanks

I'd recommend you look for a Candy cabinet (Neo 29 is the one I have) - they're newer, better screens, fully Neo compatible and they're easy as hell to work on.

    Plus they're tiny.

I've seen Neo Geo cabs go anywhere from $100-$400, depending on if it's a 1/2/4/6 slot and what games came with it. Maintenance on them is basically the same as any other JAMMA cabinet.

Ok, well, seeing as I would be/am a n00b to the whole arcade scene, idk what would be involved in that, lol. So yeah, just wondering if it is something that would be easy to learn or not. And I am more interested in the MVS cabs, even tho the others do look nice, i like the look and feel of the other better.

If you do ended up going to route of a candy cab, such as the neo or super neo 29, the cabinet is already prewired for a single slot MVS setup. So assuming you buy a wokring cabinet all you would need is the MVS board and game. Just plug the board into the cabinet and turn it on, it is that simple.

How does one contact him? The question request button doesn't work. Is there much to do to convert this to a standard JAMMA cab?

Thats what I want to know. These would be ideal for people (like me) with small spaces if JAMMA is possible. I also really like that they're designed so you sit down while you play.

The only thing I wonder about is going w/a 4 button, or the one that allows you the 6 button config. Do many games aside from fighters use JAMMA+? I'd probably want to play more MVS games and classic JAMMA games than anything else.

Either panel would be good. If you do end up getting a 4 button layout it is possible to just punch out the additional holes.

Thanks! It looks like only one of the panels has the buttons already drilled out with just plastic fillers in their places. Are the other panels like that? After thinking it over, I probably wouldn't go w/the 4 button after all. I wouldn't be able to play MK2

The Super Neo 29 cabinets came with two different 2 player button layouts. The official 4 button neo geo setup, and the 7 button layout (4 button neo geo w/ 3 more holes under neither). The biggest dilemma with the super neo control panel is the joysticks. They require a specific mounting plate that limits what sticks you can use.

If i get a chance I will take a picture of my control panels to give you a little better idea.

That'd be cool, I looked at the panels on his site and also did a few web searches. I think the 7 button layout would be the best, if I went with just a 4 button I'd no doubt be beating myself up for not being able to play the 5/6 button games. When playing 3-4 button games, do you find the lower 3 buttons get in the way at all?

That said--is his price of $600 reasonable?

I just took a closer look at the cabinets he has up for sale. All three cabinets have some yellowing. The first cabinet looks to be in the best shape, but only has a the 4 button layout.

$600 is a decent price for a super neo cabinet. I payed $550 for mine. You have to take into account the price of shipping. In the end the total would be around $1000, but that will be around the cheapest cabinet for this quality in the states unless you get lucky and find one on ebay or local.

Yea, I noticed the yellowing I haven't had much luck finding any candy style cab elsewhere and I think the Super Neo 29 is the best looking of all.

Just came across this thread on another forum I post at.

    http://www.killercabs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7508

A guy in Columbus Ohio is selling a Sega Blast City for $650. If you want to take a trip it might be worth the effort.

    Thanks for the pic.

Unfortunately I have a 2 seater car and it'd cost me a bit to rent a van/truck for a couple days to drive there and pick it up from here. Good deal though, for sure.
