    Default Sega Saturn Imports

Does the Sega Saturn have to be modified in order to play import games, or is it like the Dreamcast?

In order to play Sautrn games without a import enabler like a pro action replay you need to open your Saturn and use tape to tie up the button that is pressed when you close th Saturn.

You then need to do the swap trick which is where you switch the game when another game region code is read.

You need to do this everytime you remove or turn off the Saturn.

The 4-in-1 cart is highly recommended to backup gamesaves, and for the RAM upgrade. Usually goes for $25 US.

if you are handy with a soldering iron you can also install a region switch thougg sadly i dont know exactly where to get the instructions for this. (a friend helped me put a switch on mine)

so yeah swap works but the mod to me is much more convenient also its a really cheap just get the switch and use some wire out of an old phone cord or lan cable

best way is to get a modchip from racketboy and then use satconv on ur import backups to convert the region code.if u just want to mod it with a switch to play imports then check over at gamesx for instructions.

If you go to www.mmmonkey.co.uk, they have instructions on how to do a single switch mod for US/UK/Jap as well as a switch for 50/60 Hz.

I'm not sure why so many people are recommending a mod or the swap trick. They're not difficult, but they also run the risk of screwing up your system if something goes wrong.

The Action Replay 4-in-1 is really the easiest route -- you just plug it into the cartridge slot and go. Plus it has the 4Meg RAM upgrade and extra save memory.
