Default Portable Nes using removable media

I'm going on a long trip this summer and i need something to do while sitting in busses/planes etc. Now i'm searching for some kind of solution to play some nes games. I know the gameaxe plays them well but i don't feel like taking my precious nes carts with me.

I already found some solutions, gba + flashcart, a psp and a gp2x. But is there any cheaper handheld? Or some kind of mp4 hongkong player with a nes emulator built in? Would be nice to also have a media player on it but that's not really necessary.

I really doubt you're going to find an entire handheld system that is cheaper than getting a flashcart.

The problem with those media players that can play NES games is that the control schemes look totally shitty. This one looks the best to me:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Digital-Video-Camera-MP3-MP4-DVR-PMP-PSP-Game-Player-RD_W0QQitemZ280123094674QQihZ018QQcategoryZ73839QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

But I don't think any of them would be very ideal.

The GBA has to squeeze and crop the NES screen quite a bit to fit its LCD's resolution, so I don't really like that option much either. The DS is better and the NES emulator for the DS is better anyway (it's got a really cool live rewind feature and just better options overall). Other recent handhelds like the PSP and GP2X would be good, I'm sure, too. Conciser the GP32 as well, for everything up to the 16-bits, it does emulation just as well as the GP2X and you can probably find one for a good deal cheaper these days.

There's also the OneStation. You can't load whatever ROMs you want onto it, but there's a very good selection of games available among the pre-compiled carts.

I use the GBA SP with flash cart. Flawless emulation (inc. save state features), can hold a ton of original NES games, with the added bonus of playing GBA games. Its true that the screen is a bit out of whack, but it doesnt bug me.

If your only RETRO interest is NES, I would suggest saving up and getting a DS and a proper flash cart. NES emulation on the DS is pretty fantastic (without the screen squashing of the GBA!), and the DS has a ton of great games on its own for you to discover.
