Default Master System's 8 meg cart

Tec Toy's Street Fighter 2 for the Master System is its largest cart at 8 megs

Does anybody know what the Nes's largest cart is?

I know Kirbys Adventure is around 4 meg?

and what is 7800's largest (probably no larger than a meg)

The atari 7800's largest cart is 144k. That is 1 and one eighth of a meg.

Yep Sonic Blast, but Virtua Fighter Animation was 4 meg.

What was the name for that game on the 7800?

Also does anybody know what was the Nes's largest cart is? Was it Kirbys Adventure. I don't know to much about meg power when it comes to Nes games. Some have told me most of them are just 1 to 2 meg.

1 and 1/8th of a megabyte, but slightly over 1 megabit.

Alien Brigade and Crossbow are the 144k games for that system, however the 7800 was capable of doing 512k games.

Kirby's adventure is the biggest nes game. Back in 1993, gameinformer claimed it was 6 meg. It used mega management chip 5. A game using that chip allow a nes game to go to 8 meg. It is true that a most of the nes games in the 1 or 2 meg range.

    Action 52 is 16MBit (US/EU)

    8MBit
    Maxi 15 (US)
    Metal Slader Glory (Japanese)

    6MBit
Aoki Ookami to Shiroki Mejika - Genchou Hishi (Japanese)
    Ji Jia Zhan Shi (Chinese)
    Just Breed (Japanese)
    Kirby's Adventure (US/Jpn)
Nobunaga no Yabou - Bushou Fuuun Roku (Japanese)

so yea, I guess Kirby's Adventure is the largest licensed game released in the US.

No, it's 8 meg - all the 8 meg TecToy games have product codes that start 030.xxx (though, technically, SMS Street Fighter II is only 6 meg but on an 8 meg ROM).

On smstributes, they have Virtua Fighter Animation, listed as a 4 mega cartridge.

So I don't know if there wrong or what, but they know alot about the SMS.

Trust me, it's 8-meg. I'll fix the listing at smstributes - I'm one of the admins over there.

That should be (BR) rather than (J)

GoodTools have all sorts of problems Is there a better ROM management solution for SMS games out there? I praise Tom Cruise and Xenu every day for NSRT (SNES) and OfflineList (GBA).

Have a look at Maxim's SMS Checker utility. I don't really manage my ROMs, so I don't know what all you need the program to do, but SMS Checker always seems to be highly recommended.

As for these 8mega Master System games, the problem with them is that they don't even work in the majority of Master Systems. You have to have a SMS2 (or an even later model) or Power Base Converter in order to play them. I was selling a copy of Virtua Fighter Animation a couple months ago and I actually had trouble getting rid of it because everyone who was interested had an original model SMS.

Strangely, I've had no problem playing SF2 on my Tototek flash cart on a model 1 Master System.

I had the actual cart, and it would not play on my SMS. It was said that it would work on the Genesis power base converter, but I never tested it.

Thanks, that worked out great I'm not too hip to the naming convention (I like all games having their region in the filename), but I dig being able to finally clean up this mess of SMS ROMs with something more updated than GoodSMS.

It's only the earlier US revisions of the SMS1 that have problems with the 8-meg carts - later US SMS1's and all non-US systems play them happily.
