NES problem. Not the 72 pin connector its self persay.

Ok, here is the deal. I have Two NES...es...that are having video problems. I have cleaned and lifted the pins, and the games I tested with are golden.

Case #1: I have an NES where I turn it on, and everything is scambled/jumbled up. You can't make out a picture, like you some times may when playing a game and you have a rough out line of cruddy pixels, because the whole screen is like that. Now I can continue playing and what not, but it stays in the same jumbled mess. Does it with every game.

Case #2: I have an NES where I turn it on, and you can see the picture (Say Battletoads Tradewest logo) though a little faded, and then, it resets its self. If you press the reset button, it doesn't help. For this one, I also tested A/V cables, no avail.

did you actually clean the games? just because they look clean doesn't mean they are. if you haven't, get at them with a q-tip and some alcohol

Ive seen this problem quite a few times, tho only with super mario cart as it seems to have thinner contacts.

it is a 72 pin / dirty cart problem, clean both the connector and the cart with alcohol (I use a very soft toothbrush to gently clean the 72 -pin with alcohol then allow to dry).

if still no luck then I would say one of the pins is not connecting, do you have the lockout mod done on these consoles?

Alright, I'll try cleaning the pins one more time. I have a feeling though the problem is happening with the pins that make contact to the motherboard.

The cart I was using was a TMNT cart and was cleaned with alcohol.

I do not believe the lockout mod was done to these NESs, but I will give it a look.

another thing i just though of, on my own NES i bent the pins up and when i put the game in and push it down it doesn't work, but if i put it in and don't push it down it works perfectly. i think it's because i bent the pins up too far, you might give that a shot and see if it works
