    Default SNES Starfox Super Weekend

It was my birthday yesterday and I found this cart at a thrift store for $5.99. I think that was a pretty good birthday present. What's the story behind it? I think I've heard about iti before but I'm not sure. Was it a competition like the Nintendo World Championship? How were the cartridges distributed? Is there a website with info about it? I noticed it is an R9/$100 in the DP online guide. Is it really worth that much? It is in great cosmetic condition but I haven't tested it out yet. It will take some digging to find all the pieces to a Super Nintendo.
    Thanks, y-bot

I'd very easily give you a hundred dolars for it.

Damn right. Since it's been altered, has a time limit and the goal is to gain points it's almost like a conversion of Starwing/fox into a old-style arcade game.

It's bloody addictive trying to score as highly as possible, as quickly as possible so that you have more time in the special third stage.

Hearing about how much these things (along with the DKC competition cart) fetch these days makes me really regret deciding not to pay the $30 or so Nintendo sold them off for in those Super Power Club catalogs. I'm sure I'm not the only one.....

I think it was 50 or so in the catalogue, but I could be wrong. I do remember thinking how stupid it would have been for someone to spend that much on a timed 'demo' cart. Ah, how priorities have shifted.

Yeah, I have a page on the DKC timed cart on my site too, if you are interested. I'll probably get both when I finish up my schooling in a few years. Only 2500 of each cart were produced.
