Default is the Master System a good system to collect?

I have been on a vacation in game collecting for a while and was wanting to start a new system to work towards. I already have a boxed system with the Phantasy Star game, (and saw that the system only had 115 American releases) and thought about collecting it. Is it a hard one to complete? Are there people that sell the games on the board?

You shouldn't limit yourself to getting just the US releases like so many people in the US seem to do. You'd miss out on some brilliant games that you didn't get over there. Check out: http://www.smstributes.co.uk/

Its a great console to collect for, lots of great games, prices on most are cheap, and getting them complete and in good condition isn't a problem.

I think it's a very good system to collect for the reasons playgeneration mentioned - most games are cheap and fairly easy to get complete in a respectable condition. also it's graphics and sound are technically superior to the NES and it has a high good to bad game ratio - at least from the small handful I have played (only ~20). if you want to get a full collection easily you can just go for US games or if you want a larger one you can try to get all the Euro ones if thats still not enough for you there is sh1teloads of brazilian TecToy games which are even still being produced.

No new Brazilian games have been released since 1998 unless you count the educational titles built into the newer SMS3 Collection units.

It is a very good system to collect for. Don't limit yourself to US releases, like the others said. The games are cheaper then they were back when I started to purchase sms games in 1999. The Euro sms games has some real gems that weren't released in the states like Gauntlet, xenon 2: megablast for an example.

Except that Xenon 2 doesn't work on an NTSC SMS. However, you could mod your SMS with a 50 Hz/60 Hz switch and that wouldn't be a problem.

Xenon 2: megablast works great my two sms NTSC systems. I didn't mod my 2 sms systems for that game to work. I own a sms 1 and sms 2 versions of the system.

Odd, I thought Xenon 2 didn't work on NTSC systems. I think I'm confusing it with the Mega Drive version...
