Default Model 1 Sega CD Problem.

I just bought a Model 1 Sega CD, and it doesn't want to read any discs. It just keeps spitting them back out, and doesn't even try to spin the disc at all. Oh and the access light is always constantly blinking.

Any idea what the problem is? Please tell me it's just a simple fix....

Wow.. I just put a game on my MegaDrive, and the disc tray still shot out. What the hell is going on?

Yeah I had the exact same problem, ended up having to swap the drive with a unit that had audio out problems. Hope someone has an answer for ya. I am interested in seeing the solution.

Hell, I was playing Strider earlier, and every few seconds the disc drive would eject. I'd just lightly tap it to make it go back in, then it'd eject again.

A little late on this I know. The drive tray is out of time is my guess to the problem. It is gear driven, if it slips then it can screw up the whole thing. I fixed one like this before. You have to take it apart. I can't remember the specific details but once you take it apart you can follow the gears to figure out how to realign them. The cd tray is pulled in and out by a large black gear, this gear though has a beginning and ending point, basically when the tray is out(I think) it has to be on the last notch of the gear.
I found this out quite by accident. I had one with similar symptoms as yours and had taken it apart, after tinkering with trial and error I got frustrated and slammed the tray in while it was open, I noticed when I started it that it was acting different now (like the door would come out halfway and close) and realized what the problem was.
Anyway, eventually if you work with the gear to the tray you will get it. It is frustrating though.
