East Texas area ... Just say when.
Fear your thoughts because they become your words
Fear your words because they become your actions
Fear your actions because they become your habits
Fear your habits because they become your character
Fear your character because it becomes your destiny

Therefore: Thinking and nurturing positive thoughts, at any point in your life, can change your destiny.

    Default Asteroids in Texas

I recently visited a small arcade in Roanoke, Texas, which is just outside of Fort Worth. It was home to Asteroids, Ms. Pac-Man, and Millipede and is next door to Babe's Chicken. For pictures and the full story, click on the following:

Outside of Dave & Buster's do ya'll know of any good arcades in the Houston area? Any places with good old fashioned stand up coin-ops (as opposed to the environmental games found at D&B or the Edwards Cinema)?

Well, there is Jillian's (which is essentially D&B's) off of I-10 in the big Marq*E plaza. There's also a Tilt arcade in the Galleria mall (in the food court)...and another one in Memorial City Mall (not sure if that was a Tilt or not).

West Oaks mall near Westheimer and Highway 6 has an arcade, I believe. I remember it being rather puny.

And, IIRC, there's an arcade that caters to the fighting game crowd (it's a newer one, and not the one that closed down a few years ago). The name escapes me at the moment.

Aww, man, my DSL modem died almost two weeks ago, and I didn't get the chance to check in here. I missed that signing too. Crud.

The name Fantastic Comics and Cards sounds incredibly familiar. I think my friend and I (who lives in Ft. Worth) might have stopped there back in the day.

    Bummer!

I'll be at Wizard World Texas in November, set up at Lone Star Comics' booth (times pending).

Yeah, that's probably my fault. I'd love for us all to meet at the next Houston Area Arcade Group show, unfortunately they have yet to announce a new date.

If anyone has any ideas or what not, please feel free to jump in!

I'm going to try and get my brother to go with me. I think he'll really enjoy it. I don't know if I can get off work for both days, but if so maybe I can stay at my uncle's house in Louisiana overnight, and stuff down some Cajun food.

    Lotsa talk, no action.

I am at the Richmond Arms in houston most Friday evenings for a beer or two. I live right by it. Come on down to the pub sometime -- and if you're interested in seeing what 6000 game/computer mags looks like, we can run over to my place afterwards.

Ah very cool! You're right in my area (Westheimer/Dunvale). Interested in going to the Arcade Expo with us?

After being a lurker on DP for about 3 1/2 years, I finally decided to register and speak up! I'm in the Dallas area and would love to have an event to attend.

    Default Wizard World Texas 2007

Since it's only 15 minutes or so from my house, I go to Wizard World Texas every year, and I always have a great time. This year, however, the event holds a special significance, at least to me. Part of the festivities is the 30th Anniversary of Lone Star Comics, an eight-store chain in the Dallas/Fort Worth area (I used to manage the Hurst location).

Lone Star will play host to a number of autographings, including the likes of J. Scott Campbell and Adam Kubert. Somehow I weaseled my way onto the list and will be appearing at the Lone Star booth on Friday from 12-1 and on Saturday from 10-11, copies of Classic Home Video Games 1972-1984 in hand. If any of you reading this happen to be going, feel free to drop by and say hello.

    Default Game Over Video Games

On Saturday, December 29th, I'll be appearing at the North Austin location of Game Over Video Games from 2:00-4:00 P.M, signing my book. If you happen to be in Austin that day, feel free to stop by the store and say hello. From what I've heard, they've got an incredible selection of classic video games.

My girlfriend lives in north austin and I plan to be moving there soon. I have been to the Game Over store there. Yes they have an excellent selection. Prices are high for some though. I would come Dec. 29th but I will only be in north austin from the 21st through 26th.

I have found quite a few deals at that exact store though!
