    Default Favorite Metal Slug

I had played Metal Slug a handful of times in various arcades. Then a while ago I picked up Metal Slug 4/5 for the Playstation 2. Then two days ago I picked up Metal Slug: Anthology and been playing threw the different titles with unlimited continues so I could go threw all the level and see what they are like.
    Anywho heres the question:
Which Metal Slug title is your favorite?
    Metal Slug 1
    Metal Slug 2
    Metal Slug X
    Metal Slug 3
    Metal Slug 4
    Metal Slug 5
    Metal Slug 6

So far I've played threw 2,3,4,5 and so far my favorite I think is 4. What are everyone else's thoughts?

Just thought I'd mention it, but "threw" isn't the right word, it's "through" or for short, "thru". Sorry, it's just one of the new ways people on the internets tend to misspell things as of late.

I've got Metal Slug 1 and 2 on the Neo*Geo Pocket Color and 3 and the 4/5 compilation on the Xbox, but the only one I've ever really messed around with was 3. Love the zombie level!

I like the original and 3 the most of them all. They're all very good though with the exception of 5, which feels very rushed even in a series that constantly reuses sprites and background tiles.

First and Second Mission on the NGPC are both outstanding. Both are great in their own ways too.

Mine would be Metal Slug X.

It reminds me of playing the Neo-Geo next all the vending machines in the cafeteria, during art school.

I dumped so many quarters in that machine, during those 2 years.

I'd have to say X. Such an awesome game. They took all that was good from the original and expanded upon it with tons of goodness.

It's a tie between X and 3. 2 was great and X was just a better version of 2. 3 was awsome with Zombie mode and Monkey mode etc.

I liked MS1 the best. It was pure military action. It didn't have the stupid zombie crap of the second game, and it felt more streamlined than MS3. I love them all, but MS1 is my favorite.

I would have to say Metal Slug X. Fantasic series though, there's not a single MS that I don't like.

Yup, MSX is my favorite and that is not to say that none out of the series are bad though. Neo Geo is my favorite system and Metal Slug was one of the first games to play on this system.

    5th.MS4

Btw i didn't list,2 since i prefer MSX over it also i never played MS6.

I'm gonna be an odd guy out and say 4, cause even though it was around the Playmore reformation and lacked a bit of that fun, it's still fucking hard and fun.

But I like x, 3 and 6 because of the fun factor and innovative design as well.

MS, 3 and First/Second Mission here. 5 has some neat moments but something is off about it.

Hmm, am I the only one that prefers 2 over X? I know that X is a remake of 2 without the slowdown, but they changed enough to the point that I didn't like it as much.

Anyways, my favorite by far is 1 (though I only own 1 and 2 on my MVS, at the moment).

    MS3 is best.
    Haven't played 6 yet, though.

I haven't played 6 yet either, but for me it's a tie between X and 3 as well. 1 was a great game, but it's a little stiffer on the controls than the others so that dropped a few points for me.

I bet you made extra sure you had no misspellings in this reply huh....

3, X and the original for me. 4 and 5 are both excellent, although 2 is a bit redundant due to X. Still a great game, just the slowdown is a killer.

Not had a chance to play 6 yet. I'm hearing that the PStwo port is the best version? Apparently the Atomiswave version has white 'blood' no matter region the board is set too?

I really like the handheld versions. 1st Mission is a great little platform shooter, but quite straightforward. 2nd Mission is absolutely incredible, and one of the finest NGPC/MS games. I had a decent go on MS Advance, and thought it was pretty good. Not as good as the NGPC games, but pretty decent. Looks nice too.

Have to say that I'm a big fan of Run n' Gun style games. The Metal Slug games are surely the best series of this type of gameplay, but I also really like Demon Front on the Polygame Master. You'll be damn lucky to find a Demon Front cab, but the PGM is emulated in MAME so I assume DF works. Give it a go, it's a great game.

Nope, you're not alone; my choice here is 2. I love the series as a whole, but my local arcade growing up only had the second, and since I harbor SO much love for this series I ended up being the only person that I know of to play through it in that arcade. My record was getting it down to 19 tokens.

It was only one to start play. And I spent about five bucks on it. In one go. EVERY time... though early on it took more tokens than that.

Other than that, I like 4. I don't really have standard reasons why I prefer those two over the rest... I just do. Personal preference.

I'm surprised so few people have listed Metal Slug 3 as their favorite. I thought that would be the general consensus among the DP set.
