Default Another Blockbuster World Video Game Championships II FOUND! - 56k warning

Call me lucky, call me how do you want, but I've just found another Genesis Competition cart.

The third one that reaches my hands.
So, now how many of these are known?
    5? 6?
I know for sure about 3 of them, 2 in my hands and another in the hands of a friend here. I know that someone else on these boards got one.

Where did I find it? Well, I will tell you the truth: in a lot of Genesis loose games on eBay. I presume that this one should be my best deal ever.
I didn't find any difference from the others I've had. Same label and case.

wow...just wow...now if you could only find a NWC in a lot of NES games. Well actually there was one in a lot this week, but it didn't go under the radar.

NWC in a lot? I didn't spot it! Maybe it was when I was on holiday in France (6 days)?

Well, I was looking for it since some years with very specific strings, so it was just a matter of time. I think so.

Definitely an awesome find! Congrats!! Just for curiosity, can you take pics of both competition carts? That is something we don't see everyday.

Actually it's the second time I take a picture of 2 of them!

Thanks for the NWC link, I was away when it went on eBay.

Anyone can tell how many of these are around?
DreamTR got one, Barbarianoutkast85 got another. With mine it's 4, but I know that someone else has got others.
Nobody? It would be good to keep the numbers, just like with NWCs.

you gotta think though. Probably every blockbuster video around that time had maybe 2 competition carts per store. Then you think of how many locations there were, how many of them got thrown away. I bet there is much more than a handfull of these carts.

well, there were 2500 Donkey Kong Comp carts for the same competition, so I'd say that is a reasonable amount to say were made. Now, I don't know if Sega cared if the carts were returned or not. If not, blockbuster probably disposed of them besides for a few that a few employees may have snagged. I would say that blockbuster would have sold them like any other ex-rental, but the carts say promotional use only- Not for resale. That being said I still find it hard to believe that only 5 of 2500 would have survived. Even if only 1% survived that would be 25. I think as more people learn about this cart, that a few more may surface. This cart is still pretty unknown.

udisi: the problem with that is we would be seeing more on eBay as people go through their crap, and we haven't.

Grats on the auction! Pretty nifty you have two now, then your friend has one and of course DreamTR & Barbarianoutkast85 have one a piece. Good times.

I know..that was my point too. I'm surprised we haven't seen more. I wish I knew the story behind what happend to these after the comp because I can't figure out why so few would be found by now.

cyberfluxor, the friend I was referring to was DreamTR.

AFAIK Blockbuster shops had orders to dispose-destroy them after the competition.
Anyway I'm sure that many more must be around.
I'm just trying to find out how many of these are known.
Out of curiosity, in the official booklet of the event it's written that the competition is held also in other nations: USA, Canada, Argentina, Australia, Cile, Mexico, New Zeland, UK, Venezuela. Games may differ from country to country.

The dispose-destroy order makes a lot of sense and accounts for a lot of them going byebye. The ones that are known are probably from employee hands. Very interesting about the other countries thing. I wonder if we'll ever see a cart from another country.
