    Default Best GBA multiplayer games?

I'm thinking about gettin a GBA SP so I can play some link up games with some friends, but I need some good recommendations first. I haven't played any good link up portable stuff since 4-player Warbirds on Lynx. Only thing I've seen that I'm interested in so far is Advance Wars, that is right up my league, but I would like to get a Mario Party type game for 4 player if possible.

I'm not interested in recommendations for RPG's or Sports games, but put em down if you want, other people who read this may be interested.

The Doom and Doom II carts support link play (one cart per player).

Chu Chu Rocket is a blast, and you only need one cartridge for four players. I actually think the GBA version is even better than the Dreamcast version. Get it.

Here's a bigger question: which GBA multiplayer games only need one cart, or one per GBA?

Advance Wars, Mario Kart, and Bomberman Tournament also support singe cart multiplayer, I know that for sure.

Advance Wars multiplayer is kind of funny, IIRC. I think it goes like this: (1) Multiplayer "hot seat" (where you pass a single GBA around to each player when it's that player's turn) lets you play all unlocked maps; Multiplayer link-cable with a single cart lets you play a small number of small maps; Multiplayer link-cable with a cart for each player lets you play on any unlocked map.

The thing is, I don't think that the other players can DO anything when it's not their turn during a link-cable game, so I don't think there's any real benefit to doing a link-cable game! (Unless you don't want to get cooties from someone else's GBA.) Also, I don't think you can save in the middle of a link-cable game, while save IS available for a "hot seat" multiplayer game. So somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, because it seems like there's no really good reason to do link-cable games in Advance wars.

Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland has tons of great minigames, inluding a race game, a "hot potato"-type game, the infamous "Samurai Kirby" game that is a hit at drinking parties (on Kirby Super Star for SNES, as well), and a few others. All minigames are for 4 players, only one cart needed. Furthermore, the one player game is fantastic, and two players can play cooperatively in the main adventure game with 2 carts. You can't go wrong. Go Kirby!

Well, I got a Cobalt GBA SP, and Advance Wars. This game is awesome! and the SP is even more awesome.

I'd be pissed if I was an original GBA owner, because the SP isn't just a little upgrade like the Pocket was for the GBC. Nooooo, the GBA SP totally blows the original away!! Nintendo is gonna have to drop the price of GBA to like $30 if they want to move those off shelves. I went to three dept. stores and all 3 were almost out of SP's, but they had piles of regular GBA's, and with the quality of the SP, I would expect those piles to stay there.

I can't figure out what is cooler. Whether it folds to the size of a pack of post-its, or whether it has a backlight, or whether it comes equipped with a rechargeable battery! Now they just need some Lynx style games, like Warbirds or Slime World and I'll be really happy.

I've just been playing the hell out of GBA the past couple days, and I'm really digging Moto GP. It's the perfect racing game for anyone who loves Hang On. It also features 4-player racing, which should put it near the top of your multiplayer lists. Definitely check this one out; it seems to have fallen through the cracks (like the Cinemaware games).

Here's another killer racing title for 4-players: Motoracer Advance.

Definitely a terrific game -- loads of twists, turns, hills, huge drops, racing in traffic, deserts, cities, and volcanos. And everything just looks spectacular -- this may set the standard for sprite-based graphics in a racing game. Who needs to struggle with polygons when you can get this?

All I need now is a GBA Roadblasters.
