Default S-Video modded Genesis with region switch and pal switch

I have a S-Video Modded Model 1 Genesis system for sale. The system has been modded for S-Video output, and for those that haven't seen one in action, the S-Video signal from the Genesis is absolutely outstanding. It makes the stardard composite output look like total shite. You'll be amazed that your Genesis carts and Sega CD games could look this good on a regular TV. This Genesis also has stereo sound outputs on the back (to make it more convienent than using a headphone jack adapter and having wires stick out the front). It also includes two dip switches. One is for JPN/USA, and the other is for NTSC/PAL (50/60hz).

This is Alien Soldier, the Treasure classic that never came to the USA. With the dip switch set to Japan, you can enjoy this classic in beautiful S-Video.

This is the back of my Model 1 Genny, while it's connected to a Sega CD. One of the nice benefits of having this Model 1 Genny that can do S-Video, is that all your Sega CD games will be output in S-Video as well. The third plug from the right, is the S-Video plug. It's kinda twisted sideways, but works just fine. To the left of the S-Video plug is the two audio plugs for the stereo sound. To the far left are the two dip switches.

    Here are some comparison shots:

Look at how blurry that health bar is in composite. It's crystal clear in S-Video.

Sonic looks significantly brighter and more detailed in S-Vid.

Look at the TM and the part of the A in "Sega". Look at how much more defined and accurate it is.

I'm selling this for $55 plus shipping. PM me if interested.

If I had the money right now, I would buy it since it's a way better price than a place in Edmonton that has you send YOUR machine to them for modding.

For future reference, would you do mods to someone's system if they sent it to you? If so, how much would it be? Can you mod Model 2 Genesis systems? 32X's?

Curse my overspending! I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Do you plan on making + sellling anymore any time soon?

If not, I could always see if I can learn to do it, using my spare model 1 as a testbed...

If I had cash (overspent way too much in the past week myself) I would definitely grab this up. Not only nice s-vid output, but having those stereo plugs in the back is a big plus. I still do the y-cable thing myself...

I just use the Model 2 of everything to get stereo sound from my Genesis instead of having to run a 3.5mm mic cable from the genesis to the sega cd. The whole Genesis/Sega Cd/32X contraption creates enough cable on it's own! Though, because I am setting everything up in the closet of the computer room, perhaps I could get a good pair of speakers and attach them to the wall since TV speakers always suck.

Nah, I don't mod them myself. I wish I had the skills for that. Kamino did it, and he did a damn fine job too.

It's something I would like to learn how to do. A sort of hobby that requires precision and skill that DOESN'T involve playing games :P. I've looked online for instructions on how to do it, but I can't find a thing. I'll probably have to get someone like Kamino to do it for me since I doubt he'd be willing to divulge how to do it if he is making money from doing it. Who can blame him?

All the info is publicly available. It's the same circuit as used in the well-documented Neo Geo s-video mod. I've done pleanty. In fact, those "comparison shots" are from my website

Is there anywhere that shows step-by-step how to do it on a Genesis? I know nothing about circuit boards or electronics, but I want to learn how to do this. I have a few spare machines to mess up on

The S-Video modded Genesis has been sold. Thanks for all the interest on this from everybody. I wish everybody the best of luck in finding one of their own, or modding it themselves or whatever.

I would mod one myself if I could find layman's instructions on how to do so
