Atari 2600 adaptor for Modern TVs

Does anyone know where I can get a gadget to hook up an Atari 2600 to a modern TV? I don't mean a high def or flat screen or anything, I just mean a regular TV that has AV ports. I tried Radio Shack, and they said they don't carry them anymore.

Just plug this into the “RCA” out of your 2600 and then into the coaxial input of your TV…works like a charm.

If the TV doesn't have any coax input, then the only option seems to be using a VCR that has composite output. Plug your Atari into the ant in on the VCR and then plug the composite AV output into your TV.

I recently bought an NEC MultiSync video monitor that can take composite, s-video, RGB or VGA, but of course it can't also take RF, so I've been looking into this myself. I really don't particularly want to get a VCR just for playing my old consoles on, so I may end up going the mod route. I've done region mods and made some RGB cables in my time, but the 2600 and Coleco composite mods look rather difficult. sigh

My coaxial jack on my TV is occupied by my cable connection, so my VCS goes into my VCR then the VCR is connected via RCA cables.

i've had a really hard time getting a decent picture through RF with any of my TV's. even with the right connector or switchbox. have an S-video modded 2600 and Colecovision and i can say the picture looks excelent.

However you decide to hookup the Atari, always make sure the power cord is kept as far away as possible from the video cord. I always run the power cord out to the left of the system and the video out to the right(or vice versa). Never intertwined the cords, they get interference from each other. I use the "RCA to F Connector Adapter" and always get a good picture when I kept the cords separated.

You know, I did too until I broke out a really old commodore Vic-20 RF cable, and used that in conjunction with the coaxial adapter. Perfect display. Odd that the old rf cable works great, but any newer cables give me a horrible picture.

Actually I had the reverse problem, connecting my dreamcast/ps2, to the old tv that only had an RF input. I bought a Pelican 5-way system selector that works and should work for you. It has an RF input on it and Av/S output.

I don't have any links handy, but there ARE companies that make RF receivers... like, you plug in any RF source, and it converts it to composite or s-video. I remember seeing such a device at a local bargain store, but I didn't buy it at the time as I had no use for it.
