Default Dual Shock 3 "confirmed" for TGS

"Oh my god! Stop the presses! Do we even have presses? Anyway, according to the latest 1UP Yours podcast, Sony plans on unveiling the return of rumble at the Tokyo Game Show this week, with the Dual Shock 3 making an appearance on the show floor. If this is true it will no doubt spawn countless photographs of what will undoubtedly look just like the controller we are all used to anyway, but hey, it will rumble. Maybe we can create an animated GIF that shakes to help convey the full impact of the controller's appearance on the scene. Finally, after nearly a year on the market, we'll get a glimpse of the controller we should have had in the first place and will soon have the opportunity to pay an undisclosed amount of money for."

Its like PSX all over again I think this "solution" was a good thing for Sony. I mean, now they get extra media coverage because they release something extra to PS3 after the launch.

They saved millions of dollars by not paying what Immersion (or how you write it) demanded at first. The came to an agreement to pay about 90 million dollars instead of about 200 million dollars if i remember correctly.

total payment to Immersion by sony:
$97 million in damages and interest
$22.5 million in licensing payments from Sony over three years
$30 million Sony has already paid for licensing the technology.
    --------------------------------
    total: $149,5 million

so only 50 million less than sued for, not that great of a deal.

As Heybtbm already pointed out, its a new addition to the PS3 since it doesnt have this feature. Dual Shock 3 (if that will be the name) is also suppose to include TouchSense technoligy.

Altho the technoligy might not be brand new, i would say that this is innovative when it comes to console controllers.

Apparently it was 299 million dollars (Source). This is just for damages, the licensing fees etc. would have had to been payed anyway. So if this info is correct, they managed to go from 299 million to 97 million. Even if it was "just" 50 million, its still alot of money to get away with, as in not having to pay.

According to Gamespot.com, this is listed as "rumor control."

    Time will tell, I guess.

This is the exact reason I never bought an extra controller for my PS3. I'm excited by this. It's about damn time Sony.

*YAWN* what is this PS1 again? People are getting excited about something Sony was too stupid/stuck up/arrogant to have in the first place. This is nothing new or innovative.

Actually it is "new", seeing as the PS3 controller doesn't have rumble. Now it does. See...it's new.

Go piss in someone elses thread.

I don't think he is trying to troll, he's quite right actually. It's nothing new to SONY game systems in general, but is new to the PS3. Personally, if I were a PS3 early adopter I'd feel screwed.

Not including a tried-and-true feature, then putting it in later isn't "new", it's LAME! Piss-poor attitude on your part. Plus, urine is sterile and 95% water, so why worry about your golden-shower infused thread?
