Default Now this is the kind of game Wii was made for -- "de Blob"

The latest Nintendo Power (yes, Nintendo Power. Shut up.) has an interview regarding this game. I'll type it up if anyone wants.

de Blob was originally created as an art project (for PC) by a group of students in the Netherlands. In it, you roll around and add color to a black-and-white world. It's just a freeware demo, but someone at THQ was so impressed that they contacted the students about making a full game out of it.

Apparently, two completely separate games, one for Wii and one for DS, are being made out of it. I haven't seen anything about the DS version, but the Wii version looks awesome. (Apologies for linking to IGN)

Anyone else care? Although it will definitely draw comparisons to Katamari, it's pretty damn unique. This is exactly the type of game I've been wanting on Wii.

Looks cool. Wonder how they'll incorporate motion control to make it less fun?

    Beware of De Blob:
    It creeps...
    And leaps...
And glides and slides across the floor.
    Right through...
    The door.
    And all around the wall...
    A splotch...
    A Blotch...
    Be careful of De Blob!

(lyrics from the opening theme from the 1958 movie "The Blob", for those saying to themselves; "What the hell??")

Sorry - it seemed oh so fitting.

IIRC I read about this in a magazine or something a few months ago. It did sound interesting then and still does now. I like creativity in this hobby and there's been limited progression tapping into those oddball ideas that make fascinating gaming experiences. I don't just want another sports game with enhanced graphics and physics (though it is a nice perk) but something fresh and new, just like any other form of entertainment.
