    Default Star Wars: Battlefront

I was wondering becuase SW:BF2 is now a greatest hits I might pick it up. I have the original and love, so I thought I'd ask everyone here if they thought the second was a worth while investment.

It's just like the first one, but with the ability to fly ships and play as Jedi. Definitely worth a spin if you liked the first.

Yeah I really enjoyed it as well. They tried to add a game mode with a story as well, although I personally preferred just preferred to jump into the Galatic Conquest mode.

I was a HUGE fan of the original but hated BF II. My main problem was that the maps were mostly in confined areas like buildings and ships. What I liked about the original BF is that most of the battles took place in large open spaces, so you can run all over the place and explore the maps. It felt like II was missing that. And the flying parts felt real sloppy but thankfully they gave you an option to skip them and go straight to ground battle.

If you can get it for $20 new though, why not? And I guess a lot of people still play on Live.

I'm actually the opposite - i like how the levels are a bit smaller on BFII because there is less wandering around, and I loved the space battles.

As for Live, I haven't had an account for a couple of months, but most of the games I played on there were Jedi ones, which get really old really fast.

It's a really fun game tho - I paid full price for it when it came out and don't have any regrets. It's one of the best Star Wars games out there IMO.

The AI in part II is much, much improved over part one. The space battles are super-neat.

Which system offers the best version? XBOX? Any DPers have multiple versions?

The Xbox version has better graphics and can support more players (32 vs 24). I'm sure you can find it cheaper now also, with the declining value of Xbox1 games.

ugh...i don't know if anyone else has tried that game but on that tiny screen it made it impossible for me to focus. I got a headache and gave up very quickly. Plus aiming was very tough.

I enjoyed both battlefront games, but was I the only one who sucked ass as a jedi? I could rack up kills with any other character (loved the snipers best) but when it came to being a jedi I sucked.

Yeah, BF is one of those games that SCREAMS for a second analog nub on the PSP.

I just picked up Battlefront 2 last night, I havent got around to playing the single player story mode yet. I've just been playing multi-player with my brother. But so far I like it just as much as the original.

Is it worth getting the second BF game over the first as a new player to the series (PS2 edition)? How is it single-player?

I really enjoyed the multiplayer, as the Computer AI is really bad. All in all, I still enjoyed this one, and hope and pray that BF III is a reality someday(I know that it was produced and cancelled).

Back when they were popular my friends and I played the SHIT out of both Battlefront 1 and II, really excellent games. Though I must say I didn't like some of the excess in Battlefront II, such as:

The Elite Weapons upgrade at times were annoying, and if you happened to be like my one friend and simply use your own account every time as the bonuses stacked up, after a while the game became REALLY stacked. The Jedi too kind of broke the game if you were really good.

The Space Battles were underwhelming after being spoiled by games like Rogue Squadron and Rebel Strike on Gamecube. The ships were slow and clunky, and hard to control. And they didn't look half as good!

The lack of some of the best levels from Battlefront I, Bespin in particular.

And the Galactic Conquest became REALLY long and drawn out. In the original it was much simpler and much more fun in my opinion.

Battlefront II had a lot of great Landships and better AI, overall better land battles and maps for the most part, it's still a really fun game. But I prefer the original.

I own both but have only played the second. The fact that each class is good against another particular class and just knowing what class wins over what is a flaw in my opinion. I just didn't find it enjoyable to switch out classes to repair a health location, switch to another one to destroy an AT-ST Walker easily, etc, etc, etc.

I liked the gameplay in the PSP games better. Instead of switching to multiple different classes you could customize your classes as you see fit.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

I have both but have never played more than the demo to the second one. I'm still kicking myself over that because I heard that SW:BFII was a really fun multiplayer game over Xbox live back during the original Xbox days. I was always just so busy between Halo 2 and Burnout 3.
