OK, yeah. I didn't go, but I honestly thought it was cancelled and didn't check back with here after that. That sucks. I wouldn't have been able to go anyway though, since I broke my fuel pump in my car by running it out of gas. It's still in the shop....
If you guys ever wanna do something else, let me know. We should probably plan it a little better though. The more notice, the easier it is to schedule. I know we are all busy people.

It figures I'd find out about this site right after this happened. Haha.

At any rate, I'm in Norman, Oklahoma.

I live in the Tulsa area and I usually have Friday, Saturday and Sunday free. Although I do have to work Friday overtime on occasion.

But I think it would be really cool to meet some fellow DP'ers. It would be cool to meet up at an arcade and just play some games and get aquainted.

I think the only real Arcade left in the Tulsa area however, is Funhouse. But there is also Incredible Pizza... Not the best food, but LOTS of cool games. If anyone was interested we could meet up there and eat and play some games. Anyone interested?
If a god is willing to prevent evil, but not able, then he is not omnipotent. If he is able, but not willing, then he must be malevolent. If he is both willing and able, then why is there evil? If he is neither able or willing then why call him a god?

I just found a website we can use to track attendees. ImIn.com
Seems pretty easy to use. If someone wants to take charge of the next get-together I think that website may help.

Unfortunately I have not the time to actually organize something. Basically working two jobs with school.

But if something gets arranged I'll be there with upmost certainty!

    Talking

I just found this thread after looking for any info for the OVGE.. I'm thinking of going to the Texas Pinball event in Grapevine, TX in Mid-March...

I've never been to OVGE, hopefully it can someday return...

Anyhoo, I'm in South OKC, and maybe even could help in getting space to host a classic gaming/tourney event in the future... 'Coz right now at my workplace there is already the "Limey Dragon" which is a traditional games shop (pen & paper RPG, dice games, warhammer 40k and hordes tourneys, etc) and it is located off of S.E. 29th street (near Del City).. We might be able to clean/clear out the space next door for something, but, depending on the size, space, # of people, and area requirements (electrical, furnishings, which area to use, parking, etc), there may be / are some public access 'limitations' (if anyone is seriously thinking organization, etc, PM me and I will let you know what all there is to focus on)..

It isn't fancy schmancy (unless it was all decked out, maybe ).. But the main thing is if it was for 1-2 days, I'm offering the space for free or almost free..
But in anycase, I'm just throwing it out there possibly for future reference.. I'm usually pretty busy, but if something is planned I would like to make it at the least, and help out (volunteer) up to host it at the most.

Thank you for the offer, Rifter. Welcome to DP.
Unfortunately, we seem to have attracted only men who live in an iron lung and have not the ability to go outside and play.
Seriously though, that would be great. All we would need is for everyone to pitch in and bring a couple things. A power strip or two, a vacuum cleaner, some Clorox wipes, and the cleanup will be taken care of. A few TV's, systems, games, pizza money, and we're ready to go.
Do you have any spare tables or chairs to use?
Maybe we can pitch in and hire Daft Punk to perform. That would be sweet. Anybody have a spare 20k laying around?

HEHE ... Daft Punk would be awesome!

Right now as far as tables/chairs go.. 1 oval conference table with like 12 chairs.. The limey dragon next door has alot of extra folding chairs and a couple of tables..

Yeah, many of my friends are very busy and have family that likes to suck the fun out of their weekends

Maybe when it gets a little warmer we can get SOMETHING going.. In the mean time I'll be gathering and hording a few games to show and tell until then.. hehe

P.S. It would be cool to see a Sega CD or NES R.O.B. Robot .. I haven't seen any of those in awhile.. I'd especially like to check out Time Gal (Sega CD) again. I rented that game (& the Sega CD hardware to play it on) back when Sound Warehouse was still around.. (Sound warehouse/Soundtrack I forgot which )

Sound Warehouse was awesome. (I think Soundtrack was a car audio store.) I have a lot of good memories of that place. I was a youngster and while my dad looked at music & movies, I'd read Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, and play with the toys they sold. Good times. That place was on 39th & MacArthur, right?
EDIT: Oh, and I have ROB. I tested him a couple years ago & he worked...but not very well. I think his gears are loose. He needs a rebuild...and I mean the special treatment:

hehe.. Johnny 5 and R.O.B. look pretty much alike.. Nintendo should open up a robot repair shop....Wow, I never thought about it before today, but, I wonder whom (Nintendo, Sony or MS) would be the first to make an android that can play games too.. I'm betting Nin or Sony on that one..

    Post Get together in May

Sounds like a good idea.. I'll try and make it to the OKCCC Retro/New game event. Maybe it will be a good catalyst to more planning and ideas. Anytime it is on the south side I'm usually good at making it there. Free is always the best too, hehe. I'm all for paying to enter too.. Just NOT more than $7, coz anything $10 or over to get in makes me kinda expect something like a freebie, game discount, miniature, gift or goodie bag o' swag. lol

BTW I read somewhere on the internets today they're going to remake the Short Circuit robot.. I dunno if it will be for another movie or whatnot, but that would be cool.

Maybe that's why they sold the old one.

I dunno.. possibly.. I think playing retro games, (like one of my all time faves, pac man & pac man plus) is totally rad lol with 80's music or movie in the background... I mean, come'on.. how many times have you been playing something and St. Elmo's Fire, Pat Benetar or some other song pops on the radio and WHAM. Super Spicy Nostalgia Moment

Heads up, guys. I'm going to plan something for April 26th. It will be after the gaming show at OCCC. We'll hit the game show at OCCC, head out for dinner together around 5PM, and probably hit Flacks house for some arcade action in his garage/arcade. More details soon.

Sounds pretty cool... I dunno where we're going as long as there'z good games, good bier, good times I'm there.. hehe We need a party flier just in case I've had a few too many I might need a ride there & home.. roflmao.. just kidding.. But seriously, gas for me is a luxury I can't really afford, so I'm glad everyone is getting the word out and little by little hopefully we can revive the scene around here a bit.. It sounds fun!
