Default Auction winners that want to ship to a different address other than what is in Paypal

I had a lady win an auction, but she wanted it shipped to an address that is not listed in Paypal. Not paying attention to the eBay message, the item was shipped using Paypal's labels with their Delivery Confirmation. Question is, aren't I doing the right thing? I mean if I don't ship to their confirmed address, won't I be in danger of receiving a chargeback?

I have asked sellers to do this many times, especially since I switched my Paypal address to my house in Canada. I often have things shipped to a location in the US.

I always make sure to send email before I send payment, making it very clear of my intentions. I haven't had any issues yet.

I did have one buyer pull that stunt on me, however. He sent payment and then a day or two later sent me email stating he wanted it shipped to a different address. It was too late, as I had already shipped it. It ended up being a big hassle since the package was eventually "return to sender" and arrived about 2 months later. Somewhere along the way, he stopped responding to me and I am happy to say I ended up with his cash AND the item. It was still barely worth the effort.

You have to send to the address confirmed by paypal to be covered in the case of a chargeback. I say you did the right thing. It's your ass if you send to another address and they decide to scam you.

I would've contacted the buyer and told her I wouldn't ship the item until the address she wants you to ship the item to was confirmed. eBay lets you choose "buyer wanted shipment to an unconfirmed address" as a dispute option.

Sending the item to an outdated address will only get you in trouble - as in, a possible negative. You should've discussed that with her before shipping the item.

Confirmed adresses only available for USA residents. And what for other people? heh...
Of cause when you discover that real shipping adress is not the same as paypal one then it's totally BUYERS mistake. Buyer should notify seller before auction end about such things.

I would only do this if the buyer has good feedback.

I do this a lot, especially on christmas. It's cheaper just to send the gifts for my US friends to their address, since shipping from Finland costs at least 4 times more for the same package.

I will ship to a different address if they have some good feedback on Ebay. Really the paypal protection is worthless its a game of chance most of the time.

If a buyer wants you to ship to a different address then they need to pay with a money order.

Exactly...PayPal orders ship to confirmed address or not at all. 'Nuff said.

Agreed. I wouldn't accept Paypal and ship to an unconfirmed address.

I don't understand why these buyers wouldn't just add the new address to the PayPal payment as they're paying. It's a really simple, easy matter. Paying and then sending an email after is just asking for trouble.

Of course, just adding an address doesn't make it confirmed, but I don't see what the huge problem is, unless you're dealing with a relatively new buyer with little feedback or a buyer with a bad record. I can't recall if I've ever shipped to an unconfirmed address or not, but I wouldn't sweat it if the buyer has a ton of positive feedback. Personally, I've had stuff sent to my mother's house when I'm on vacation as well as directly to a friend, and no one has ever had an issue with me using an unconfirmed address in those cases.

I've had sellers ship to unconfirmed addresses without any issues. My bank is retarded and doesn't update my record of address for my debit card until months later. By the time I moved out of my last apartment, it had only been confirmed for about two months.
