Arrow SNES Question: Model 1 and Model 2

Just a simple question - other than cosmetics and the lack of an RF port on the "Model 2" mini SNES, are there any other differences? Is one console better than the other?

    Thanks!

The Model 2 doesn't support S-Video. Then again, I've only read that. Can anyone confirm?

No power light (some people care) and no eject button.

I think if you're serious about SNES you should get a model 1. S-video is too important.

Model 2 SNES is for collectors (it is cute) and for cheapass/late to SNES gamers of the late 90s.

Thanks everyone. I'm more interested in playing my SNES stuff, so I'm going to stick with the Model 1. I have a Model 2, but I always liked the Model 1 more anyway.

    Thanks!

There are at least two different model 1s too.... slightly different innards and such.

I have both and the Model 1 gets all the use. I should sell the 2 on ebay but I haven't gotten around to it.

Interesting - are the differences noteworthy? How will I know which Model 1 I have? Actually, I have several Model 1 consoles, but one is almost like new and not yellowed

Scream, the first Model 1's had much more metal inside, and weighed a lot more than the later one's (1994-6ish). The later ones were much lighter. Also, while not a proven fact, the later ones I think had better plastics for the case so they don't yellow.

I prefer the design of the Super Famicom Jr/SNES 2 over the original. The original SFami is a great design, but I really like the look of the Jr version. And anything has to be better than the original US SNES design.

It's possible to mod a SNES2 for RGB output too. You just need to connect the traces on the MoBo to the A/V port that Nintendo decided to leave out.
