I honestly don't remember, I've had the "thread" since about mid 2006. In the beginning, I only had around 5 games to sell so the thread was pretty easy to make and did not take long at all. When I decided to make the decision to go from being a casual gamer to a Japanese game collector*/gamer, my list grew accordingly, up to the one you see in this thread now.

When I joined this forum in 2006 and to this very day, there was only one other person (besides me) who collects Japanese games as well as specialising in selling them: Adol. You might remember him as the "Full Sets" guy. I wonder why he doesn't bump his selling thread anymore? Anyway, his list was pretty massive but a bit boring to look at. Like me, he sells a wide variety of stuff but I felt that with a few minutes of HTML/forum formatting, it would have helped differentiate between all of the games he listed and make it easier on the eyes. Usually when I read long lists, my eyes glaze over by the time I reach the end. So I used my own advice for my own thread.

Since I have so many stuff on hand to sell, and stuff to sell in the future, and BECAUSE of the stuff in the future, it is important to create a good forum template. A good template means the minimisation of time and effort. However, I encountered a problem: Different forums use different HTML tags or have some sort of restrictions in posting. For example, this forum limits the amount of images that can be displayed per post. Other forums do not even allow images in posts. Basically, this means that my template must be compatible with all forums I plan to post in. If not compatible, then the template must be easily modified to be compatible. The "find and replace" tool in Microsoft Excel is extremely helpful in this regard. The "keep it simple" philosophy (as opposed to making it complicated with extreme details) is also important in reducing potential future problems.

After the template is done, I add the final touches (e.g. bold-type formatting, coloured fonts, etc...) to make the thread visually appealing. Adding the cute little game console images (next to the console names) was one of the last things I did, and also probably the best, in terms of visuals as well as practicality. I received positive feedback from viewers for that. The only thing missing in this thread (due to the aforementioned image amount per post restriction) that is available on other forums are the little flags images that denotes region.

Anyway, once I've got the "foundations" set, then it's a case of following the procedures:

    1) Get stuff (e.g. video games).
    2) Name them properly.
    3) Take photos of them.
    4) Upload the images to a image-hosting website.
    5) Get the "Item names" and "Image URLs" into the blank template.
    6) Price them.
    7) Copy and paste.

Each step doesn't take too long but combined it's a bit of time. I'm sure more experienced sellers/programmers/web design gurus/whatever can find a more efficient way of doing it but I'm just a casual seller so this process is good enough for me.

*In my case, I define collecting as simply "buying everything I am interested in" as opposed to the more common definition "buy everything".

If you liked the lists in this thread, you should see my "Want" list o_O. (The "want" list in my first post doesn't count, it's a heavily truncated version).
