Default Fix Repair Broken Colecovision Controller Joystick

Several people have recommended compressed air to clean your fire buttons. I haven't had much luck with that.

Others have said replacing the fire mechanism from other scrap Colecovision controllers will help. I'm sure it will, if the said mechanisms work as well.

I recommend trusty TV Tuner cleaner (i.e. Tuner control Cleaner and Lubricant Radio Shack cat no. 64-4315). I sprayed a small amount in each fire mechanism using the straw in the little window, and function improved dramatically.

Either replace the switches... or remove from board, disassemble, clean parts (don't lose the tiny contact sleeve), reassable and voila. I use to use contact cleaner sprayed into them, then cycle the switch several times, but it's too unpredictable if it will work or not. Basically these switches have the same problem as the On/Off switch.
