Unhappy KNURDZ to sell entire OlderGames.com division...

    Hello,

Thanks to everyone for all their support over the years. We will continue
business as KNURDZ Entertainment Group. After careful and lengthy
consideration we have decided it is best to focus on our largescale
projects. In doing so we have been considering the idea of selling
OlderGames in it's entirety. This will not affect pre-orders of our
new releases or pending sales of our products. All pre-orders for
our new Frog Feast editions will be shipping today.

It is with a heavy heart that myself, my colleagues, and our
company take our final bow today and move on to bigger things.
We look forward to our future with KNURDZ. And will always remember
the good times. If we find another company to purchase the
OG assets you can expect great things. There were, and are many
pending projects in our portfolio and with a strong focus and new
leadership, OlderGames will become stronger than ever.

Thank you for the years of memories,

    RW BIVINS
    CO-FOUNDER OF OLDERGAMES.COM
DO NOT ask me about OlderGames, DO NOT ask me if I can sell you a copy of any releases they/we made during our lifespan. I am a collector of Classic and Retro games just as I always have been PERIOD. I am here to be a part of the community and buy items for my collection.

I'm not sure if you are trying to insult me or not. Keep in mind we have
a large portfolio and many publishing deals in place not to mention many thousands
of dollars in assets. We are not "cashing in" we are "cashing out" and will only sell
the division off to a serious buyer who is intent on devoting time, and effort that
we simply can not manage to do anymore.

It's better for the company, better for the community, and better for us.

If I'm reading this right, you're looking to sell off the retro game publishing wing of your company. I've read about this KNURDZ, but don't know what exactly KNURDZ is suppose to be. Is it a blog....or just information website. If you're selling the publishing company, what is KNURDZ going to do?

KNURDZ will have several key projects such as it's gaming infobase which we
are trying to launch before the end of the year. It also has key technologies
such as enigma, pathquest, k3 / nexis etc... for development which were internally
developed. We plan to expand into licensing middleware and developing current-gen
IP's as a development focused organization.

Did you take some sort of class in this empty hand-waving business-speak or do you just write this way naturally?

So how does this affect the Video Games Media Archive? That one of the things being sold with Oldergames or is KNURDZ going to continue this?

At this time we are open to negotiate any of the KNURDZ / OG co-branded products.
Honestly we saw the archive as a release to co-promote the knurdz.com infobase
but I have no problem letting it go either.

It's a quote from the song Take the Money and Run by The Steve Miller Band.
    But, good luck with everything.

So pretty much no chance of a quality re-release of Volume 1, eh?

Man, you would have made a killing during the dotcom boom, with all your tactics of selling thin air.

The reason you are getting flack is due to what I would summarize as "shady business practice" I have (seemingly along with others) come to associate you/OlderGames.com with here on the forums. I can't speak for other people, but it is certainly how I see it.

The first thing that comes to mind would be your "CGE exclusives" that you decided to make not exclusive at all. (I would make a link referencing to where this happened, however the CGE forum is currently hibernating and is inaccessible)

The second, and worst thing that comes to mind is the bootleg of Three Dirty Dwarves you decided to lie about and call an "early development stage".

And as previously mentioned, whatever happened to making the Video Game Media Archive "right"? You mentioned being set on doing so and standing by it: here and here.

Looking at the above, InsaneDavid's first post in the thread seems quite fitting.

Default Looks like oldergames.com is moving on...

I noticed it in my myspace.com bulletins and followed the links to this forum thread:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=577726

Seems as though this established (and in my humble opinion, diligent) retro-game publisher is moving on to other things.

If I had any kind of "real" money I'd pony up and make an offer on the business license and its unfulfilled projects. Hopefully someone (or ones) with an eye for this niche customer base and a fair deal of pocket change will step up.

    Curious to hear your thoughts.

While I don't have the pocket change, I'd LIKE to redo the Video Archive personally. I'm no Phosphor Dot Fossils but I've got the software and video editing experience to at least do a pretty decent job. I LOVE the concept of having these views of pop culture be preserved but at rwbivins stated in a thread from August (after I reviewed it) it just didn't come out that way.

I wouldn't want to be paid, I'd just get the video out to those who bought the DVD somehow. Make it right.

seems like most of the feedback has been kinda negative.

I tried earlier and from the message I got when I clicked on it, the forum itself loaded but the forum was in some kind of temporary limbo. Now the whole forum is down.

I had been looking for the thread, thanks udusi for posting the link.

and with that go go merge power!
