Default Some of these modern remakes of classics are pretty ok!

I'm pretty impressed by a few of these remakes coming out... Rygar for the PS2 is fantastic and recreates the classic NES Rygar feel pretty well. I figured it would be a ho-hum adventure with the Rygar named slaped on it to give it that classic epic look. It's not like that at all, it really feels like a true Rygar game.

These remakes of classic series' that haven't been around in years seems to the be the flavor of the day. Shiniobi, Ninja Gaiden, etc. Nintendo is rumored to be making a cel-shaded 2-D Kid Icarus for the Gamecube (it's the new franchise that the big N is going to debut... although I hold out hope for a 3-D Star Tropics), Sega is making a new Streets of Rage...

So is this just a temporary fad or is going to continue? Will we see... I dunno, Kid Niki and Alex Kidd make comebacks?

I can't wait for them to release a first person 3-D A Boy And His Blob.

Seriously, I dunno if it will be good or not, but soon they will release an updated version of Pitfall

I'm REALLY skeptical about Kid Icarus...I'd be really surprised if they do it. At this point, I'd argue that, because they never updated it and the original is 16 years old, that they wouldn't bother. That being said, I'd love if it were true. Although I'd prefer GBA, as I don't have GCN!!

Streets of Rage I don't believe--last I heard an update was DOA a few years ago, considering the lukewarm response to SoR 3 seemed to mark the death of it. I think it would be a great GBA 2-D game, if Yuzo Koshiro (music) and his sister (character designs) were involoved. We'll see, I guess.

Yeah there's some game remakes that are pretty cool...I liked the Asteroids and Space Invader ones, and I'm really looking forward to the new Ninja Gaiden. What I'd like to see is still a return of Sega's old SMS franchise, Zillion

Sega released a new Altered Beast on GBA. Unfortunately, it was pretty terrible. For some odd reason, the original arcade game looked better than the new version.

Of the ton of games in Sega's libarary that they could remake, why do they choose Altered Beast? One of the all time dullest, one-dimensional games ever made. I just don't understand it.

It seems alot of ramkes are starting to come out and are actually good. I think companies finally learned their lesson or got some good people that know what they are doing, because movies based on comics and books are getting much better, video games based on movies are getting better, and remakes of classics are getting better. About altered beast, playing it now is alot different then when you originally played it. I remember it was one of the coolest games in the arcade and I loved to play it. I'm pretty sure an updated version will not be as linear and repetitive. Every time I hear about a remake of a classic I get excited now thanks to Maximo, Shinobi, Rygar, etc..
