    Default Sharing xbox 360 points?

Say I have a 1600 point card, and I want to buy the same downloadable maps(one download for me, one for my nephew 800 points each).

is there a way to sign on as my gamertag, download the maps, then sign in as him and download the maps on my 360.. then when he goes home to his 360, can he sign on and get the maps? Will they transfer over to his xbox?

Unfortunately, points are linked to your gamer tag and become inseparable. I think the only way you can do what you want, is to buy 800 point for each account. I think you can buy them in such an amount through the dashboard, but I could be wrong as I haven't done in in a while.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I have a card.

can I input half the code and get 800 points, or cut the card in half?

No, you can't. Its linked to the code for the 1600. Your nephew would need his own points card or credit card to download them for his account.

    Well, there is a "workaround"...

When you buy something on XBL, it's linked to both the console and the gamertag. If you buy a game on your console, then your friend signs in to your box, they get to play the full game. If you buy the game on your console, then go to a friend's house and sign in, his demo will be the full version under your account.

So what you would do is recover his account to your box, then enter your code in his account. Buy whatever game you wanted with the first 800 points then leave the other 800 on his account. He can recover his gamertag to his box and use the other 800.

It's not "officially" supported, but it works.

It works for any content that you can buy at the store...

Just never delete it off of the 1st Xbox and you'll be fine.

let me get this straight. (i already had the card on my box before you gave me the hot info).

    So will this work?

The points are on my card (1600). I bought the maps for 800. Can I give him my gamertag and pass to recover on his xbox and have him download the mappack on his. Then he can go into his gamertag and the maps will be on his box for good (without having to log in as me)?

Whoa, Don't RECOVER Gamertags! It doesn't work! Instead, Have His profile on a memory card and download the game through His account, Then log out of his account and log into your profile! Then give him his account back.

Would it not just be easier to buy another card (or buy more points) rather than going through all the hassle?

I'm willing to bet that there's a lot of people here who've gone through 10x the hassle for a much less amount.

I, for one, am not one of them. The amount of 360 content I've bought scares the shit out of me. It's in the middle three digit range. Yikes.

By the way Pony, you did it wrong. Here's the steps:

    1) Take YOUR account over to his Xbox 360 (recover it there).
    2) Using YOUR account, activate the code
    3) Using YOUR account (make sure his is signed out the whole time), purchase the Halo 3 maps and download them to HIS Xbox.
    4) This makes his Xbox 360 the "home" console for the maps, enabling them to be played w/o signing into the original purchaser's profile (you)
    5) Recover YOUR account on YOUR personal Xbox 360
    6) Download the maps to YOUR Xbox 360.
    7) You can now play the maps, so long as you're signed into Xbox Live. He can play the maps so long as he doesn't delete them from the 360, or it doesn't buy the farm. You will also have the remaining 800 points on your profile to use at your discretion.

If you try to reverse the steps, you'll hose yourself and he'll have to buy the maps like everyone else.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the tips. I'll remember this for future use.

Now I have a new dilemma! what two arcade titles to purchase (or an 800 dollar one).

    I'm leaning toward these three

Track & Field (my brother has it so we can challenge eachother)

Fatal Fury Special (like fighting games and would like an online one)

Small Arms (pretty cool Kung Fu Chaos / Smash Bros. clone)

which would be the best two out of that package? which one has the most players playing? Like does anyone play FF Special anymore or did I miss that boat?

I'd have to go with Fatal Fury Special there, though I haven't really heard of Small Arms. Track and Field games are the video game equivalent of Brussels sprouts. :P

Damn...it'd be soo kool if you could share points over Live. Then people could gamble points and play games or points. That's what Microsoft needs to start doing, allowing players to play games for points.

I like that idea! It will give a lot of games more online life. If you have a favorite game to play with a friend you can bet some Xbox Live Points...instead of you know.. real money

Don't buy Small Arms. It's so f*cking bad it hurts. God that game sucks. I bought it today, and...I trooped through all 235 achievement points, having zero fun along the way. I hate Super Smash Brothers, and this is a crappy version of it. Ugh.

Try Geometry Wars (400 points), Worms (800), Carcassonne (800), Catan (800) or Texas Hold 'em (800). Those are my favorites. Maybe Sonic (400) and Sonic 2 (400) if you're a retro/Sega fan, as those are the best retro games on there.
