I'm buying a Hyperscan. It looks like the most terrible system I have ever seen in my life, but I have to have it for collecting. Anyone else have desires to get systems they know are going to be terrible for posterity?

Yep, that's why I bought an N-Gage, Barcode Battler, a Jaguar CD, Virtual Boy, and a PS3.
I was collecting odd things for a while, but when space got tight, guess what had to go? I still have some of the oddball stuff such as a couple Power Joy things, a neat looking Famiclone, and I just picked up a LaserActive and Nuon. I wish I had kept my 3DO and CD-i. They would look so nice next to my Hyperscan.

Oklahoma DP Roll Call!
Whoa whoa hold the phone...the Virtual Boy is AMAZING!!
The Hyperscan games are on par with the worst bootleg 156 in 1 GBA carts. The fact that it has a USB port seems like a MOD or homebrew community could develop and maybe make it interesting...of course, the interest has to be there first for people to crack out on it...
Everyone is beautiful if you squint a bit...
Sweet, another sucker, uh, collecting companion. Get in touch with me when you sort out any of your duplicate cards to trade. I'm still trying to complete my Ben 10 and IWL sets.
50TBRD is the dude to goto for X-Men cards.
"I will ready the Sodium thiopental injection. I think its just better this way, we just can't have people running around buying hyperscans. Harsh crimes call for harsh penalties."
Wait . . . what about my sealed Game.com collection. Ah hell, I know what must be done, I will ready a 2nd Hypo.
More like the local goodwill. At any given point they have a ton of booster packs for any of the three launch titles. And I am a Virtual Boy fan, actually. I have about half the games realeased for it. Yep, a whopping 11 games are in my collection. Go me....
Collecting is the reason I own a game.com :P
EDIT: I just bought a hyperscan off e-bay . I didn't know about it untill you mentioned it. I'm sure this will be very rare one day. Anyone know how many have been sold?
Looks to me like mattel was testing the console market again.

I say go for it, and welcome. The Hyperscan is horrible and hard to collect for(complete sets), but well worth it. Ahh collecting oddball stuff, my speciality Over the years I have acquired some pretty crazy stuff. On oddball stuff here is some of the stuff I have:
Hyperscan with all 5 released games(cards is entirely different...lol)
Complete N Gage with complete game set(online exclusives and Sega Rally too)
Action Max and all games(minus Hydrosub)
Memmorex VIS with about 30 games(if you want to call them that)
Nuon with complete game set
Game.com complete game set
R-zone with about a dozen games(including the superscreen and other variant)
RCA Studio game set
Laseractive with about 9 games
pics will come soon...room of doom 3 is complete!

Y'know what kills me? Mattel was thinking about bringing the Bandai WonderSwan to the US under their name (according to Retro Gamer, at least) but pulled out. Then years later, they put out something like this thing... I guess Mattel's management is still as incompetent as the Blue Sky Rangers used to describe them as back in the early '80s.
By the way, just for the sake of collecting, I've picked up a Memorex VIS, a Tapwave Zodiac, a Philips CD-i 220, a Virtual Boy, and so on. I also have a Nokia N-Gage, a Gizmondo, a couple Nuon consoles, a Jaguar with JagCD, a LaserActive with Mega LD module, and a bunch of others that I was really interested in at the time. But I still can't muster up enough interest to buy a HyperScan.

I just got it today. Let me first begin that I praise the originality. Now let me say that I spent 5 minutes on it and the system is back in it's box. Not planning on taking it out until the homebrew scene is on it. Going to buy a better one because the only one I could find was a store return (lol) and the box is beat to shit.
Just bought a PC-FX this weekend.
Don't knock ye ol Virtual Boy! I've got most of the games NIB, but don't expect to see a NIB Virtual Bowling anytime soon, er, ever.
