I've been currently playing this game too. It's a great game for a great series. I beat the original years ago and picked up the color one a few weeks ago for $2.00 I just beat level 6 I think...the fish head one. I didn't know anything about the new dungeon though. Is it at the end???

I feel less of a man for not beating the DX version of this game.
Nevermind that I finished the original version without the walkthrough book and that I managed to beat the game without dying on my 3rd try.
I must beat this extra dungeon!

Extra dungeon is easy, but fun, especially for the bonus. Plus you can go back through it later for the other bonus, etc if you want.
I'm up to the Eagle Tower now. Have the Mirror Shield and the other important items. Dang it's confusing...

The final dungeon took me forever to figure it out the first time I played it.
Now that I have the book and have run through it a few times it is easier, but it still a pain in the ass.

Ah the eagle tower, if i remember correctly the thing that confused and irritated me the most is the puzzle with the blocks. Other than that, relatively smooth sailing.
Indeed, if you didn't have a Player's Guide, what could possibly compel you to fire an arrow at one of the statues? It's the only time in the game when you have to do something like that, and there's nothing to suggest it should do anything! (I seem to recall there's a bit in LTTP where you do that, but what if you've never played it?)

Either I got that bit of info from an issue of Nintendo Power or I knew that you had to shoot the statue in LttP (also from NP tips).
I just had trouble figuring out which room I had to go into to access the right doors to reach the correct room.

In the library??? I never even bothered to go in there since I already knew how to play the game. But now that you mention it, that does sound familiar. Did you have to do something similar in the original or was that in another Zelda game too?
I actually spent forever in the cemetary trying to get that stupid ghost to leave me alone untill I remembered about the lone tombstone elsewhere. Didn't find the dungeon though.
I really need help with the Eagle's Tower.

Oh yeah, unmarked walls that you can blow up are also annoying. (Hint hint.)

Ok, finally beat the Eagle Tower. Y aknow, I don't think I've ever hated a dungeon in a Zelda game before as much as I now hate level 7...

I recall the last dungeon being worse.

I didn't find Turtle Rock that annoying except for the fill-in-the-gaps puzzles. Outside of that Turtle Rock was more fun.
Beat Link's Nightmare tonight, er this morning. Weird plot but decent ending...so Link's stranded at sea...?!
Maybe i'll play the Oracle titles next.

I remember being stuck in one of the dungeons in Link's Awakening and writing, snail mail, to Nintendo about the problem I was having, and actually recieving a detailed written reply about what I should do, and a story from the game counselor about him being stuck in the same place! I still have the letter. For some reason I couldn't find the strategy guide for sale anywhere in my area, and being 1994, there was no internet to speak of, at least not in my house
I love this game simply for the reason you can equip yourself with whatever you have in your inventory (give or take some things) at whatever point.
I can't stress how much I enjoy being able to hold your shield up on your own.
