Contra 4 sound problems?

I just picked up Contra 4 for my brother as an x-mas present. He has trouble with there being no sound comming from the system while playing. Occasionally he'll start the game up and it will actually work from time to time. I'd say about 80% of the time there is no sound at all. Anyone else have trouble with this? or do you think it could just be a defect? as far as I know, sound works for all his other games.

Does the same thing happen when headphones are plugged in? (Just something that might be worth checking.)

yes, the same thing happens when the headphones are plugged in. It is starting to seem like it is the game and not the system.

Sounds like a bad cart; take the game back and get a new copy. It should work fine(a similar thing happened to me with Portrait of Ruin).

I've been playing Contra 4 steady for 4 days now and have not encountered this problem. I'm sure it's a problem with the game and not the system. You should return the game and get a new copy.
