Where can I buy a GOOD gamebit?

Hi everyone,

I bought a gamebit for taking apart NES games from Nintendo Repair Shop (www.nintendorepairshop.com) and it is the biggest piece of shit ever. I need to use a hammer to get it far enough into the hole to turn the screw and then need to use a pair of pliers to pull it out.

Can someone point me to a retailer that sells gamebits that will actually fit into the games they are supposed to be able to take apart?

Have you tried a magnetic screwdriver? Do you know that there are 2 different sizes of the Gamebit? 3.8mm for carts and 4.5mm for systems. Mine was just the bits when I bought mine...

i can tell you go to Sears and buy this for its awesome magnetic screwdriver (so you can get the bit to fit into the hole):

I think many of the gamebits sold on the web (including ones I bought for NES) are made of garbage. The inside of them wears out rather quickly. They're not Craftsman or Snap-On unfortunately.

Most NES bits will require some "thinning" with a bench grinder before they fit in the cartridges smoothly. Just the way things be.

I bought a magnetic screwdriver at the Electric Quarter almost a year ago - www.electricquarter.com

It works perfectly with the my 3.5 and 4.5mm bits.

I also purchased a triwing screwdriver from them for Gameboy Series Games and Systems.

I got my bits and same thing with the too big to fit holes. Makes sense with the grinder. Well too bad snap-on or craftsman doesn't make one!

I ordered mine from MCM awhile back. I'm pretty pleased with the quality, but the cost of shipping was OUTRAGEOUS. They didn't let me know until afterwards but the shipping was $20+ dollars!

Snap-On is American made and will replace any broken hand tool free of charge. I have a 20 year old Snap-On phillips that has yet to give out. If I could buy Snap-On gamebit tools on a long shaft I would buy them without hesitation.

I was going after Craftsman actually - or Kobalt, same thing.

Anybody know where to get one that fits a Virtual Boy, Gamecube or Sega Nomad? I have both sizes of gamebit but they aren't long enough or skinny enough to fit.
