Question Retro Gaming shops in Tokyo?

I'm an avid retro game fanatic, mostly interested in the stuff between the Famicom/NES and the Dreamcast. I've been in Northeastern Japan for a while now and I've managed to find some pretty great stuff and for impressive prices. Famicom Disk System, lots of Saturn types, a PC-Engine Duo, a couple Neo-Geo CD systems, MegaDrive systems, an "AV Famicom" HVC-101, and crap tons of games.

But from what I've heard there's some places in Tokyo, Akihabara in particular, with some amazing retro game selections, even shops that are devoted to retro games. I'll be in Tokyo for roughly a week soon and it's my duty to check out each and every one of these I can find. Does anyone know where I might find such shops when I'm there?

    Thanks for any info!

thanks for the links but yeah, I've heard of that one from a few people-- but I'd like to know if there's any more I should look out for, and particularly hole in the wall stores. I imagine they would have better prices.

I live in Chiba (but less than 2km from the Tokyo border) - if you PM me maybe we can meet up when you're around and I can show you a few places that have fantastic selections and prices. I'm kind of working on a guide for stores in my area as there's a shitload with good prices and they're open super late.

When I went to Tokyo back in May I thought the Mandarake used game store in Nakano was great. Not too much hardware, but games galore. I can't remember if it was on the third or fourth floor of Nakano Broadway. Nakano Broadway is a great place to check out for all sorts of otaku goodies besides games too. I easily spent most of a day checking out all the shops. The main floor is your normal basic mall, but the upper floors are nerdvana galore!

There was also Trader #2 in Akihabara which is a block or so away from Super Potato. A small selection, but some good stuff. Of course Super Potato was amazing. Tons of games and hardware, but a little pricer then other stores I went too.

If your going to Akihabara you'll want to check out this great online map. I wish I had found this before I went.

Let us know how the hunt goes!

I was in Japan in May (Tokyo and Nagoya) but I was only there for a week, and it was for work so I didn't have any free time to go exploring. I'd love to go back sometime.
