I picked this up, new and sealed, for the paltry price of $1.86 at Target yesterday. Any opinions on the game at all?

I always wanted to finish the first one on Dreamcast. It's by Crystal Dynamics who brought Tomb Raider back from the dead. Surely you'll get your money's worth...
Nice find!

Not a bad game, and if I remember correctly this one did get a bit annoying with a timeshift/spiritshift principal that bugged some of the reviewers.
Doing a quick search on gamerankings.com shows me that the game had 6/10 ratings or 8/10 ratings with most being in the 8's. User voting is a 7.3.
So all that babble aside, 2 bucks for a new sealed game that wasn't bad = good job.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

I'm going to have to check out Target now. I always liked the first Soul Reaver game on the DC, and got pissed when the sequel was cancelled for it. I gotta pick this one up, especially if I can locate it locally for two bucks.
Nice find, and I like the game. Congrats!

Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.
You know, I adored the Dreamcast game. At the time it was the best argument I had to justify to my obnoxious friends why a Dreamcast is worth buying (everybody thinks I'm retarded for loving Ecco the Dolphin so much...)
But when PS2 came out my friend bought one and I pleaded her to buy Soul Reaver 2, telling her she won't be sorry, it'll be amazing, etc...
Basically, the truth was that I was desparate to play it through because the first one ends in a horribly unsatisfying cliffhanger. I had no clue what she was really gonna get with that game.
In the end, it kind of sucked. I was shocked to discover it was really slow and strange, and the whole thing felt a bit wierd. We gave it about an hour and Renuka said "great pick, graham" in a sarcastic tone and we never put it in the machine again after discovering Metal Gear Solid 2.
I just hit me that this whole story took place a little less than a decade ago...damn I old.
I loved Blood Omen to death, Soul Reaver was awesome too. Soul Reaver 2 blew chunks- it's just NOT a fun game.
Blood Omen 2, a disgrace to the first, is more fun to play than Soul Reaver 2.
Thankfully the series ended on a high note with Defiance, although the story is still far from over.
Well, if you're interested in finding out the complete storyline for the events from "Soul Reaver" to "Defiance", you will definitely have to play and eventually finish "Soul Reaver 2". It takes place right before "Defiance" and storyline wise, it has continuity to it; i.e.: Unlike most games, where your character starts out at a 'minimum' level (like those fun Metroid games, where no matter how many sequels are made and how far apart the timeline goes, the main character always manages to somehow lose ALL of the weaponry and abilities they found in the previous games....), if you've completed the first Soul Reaver game, Raziel starts out with the exact same abilities and powers that he found/gained/earned in Soul Reaver.
In Soul Reaver 2, the only problem is that he needs to obtain more power in order to advance through the game. He'll gain new abilities of course, but in this title, there will be no need for him to earn the ability to swim underwater (for example).
I enjoyed all of the "Legacy Of Kain" games and I only wish now that they would eventually come back to the franchise and make a new title.
*sighs*
I wonder if there will ever be another LoK game?

Hey! I love Soul Reaver 2!
It was just my opinion, nothing personal
