Default is it possible to get service contract for a 360?

EDIT: Is it possible to buy a service contract or extended warranty for the 360? I found where I could get one for $70 if I was in Australia that extended the warranty 2 years, but nothing in the US.

I just sold a 360 on ebay. In the auction I stated that it was still under warranty, as the seal was still intact. It was my understanding that Microsoft had extended the warranties of all current 360's to three years from launch, meaning they are still under warranty until this coming November. Now the buyer is telling me that the warranty expired on December 15th, and he wants his money back. Was I wrong, or is he confused?

Did he even bother to call Microsoft's support line?

He says he did, and that they confirmed that it was expired, but I've dealt with the support people before, and don't have a ton of confidence in what they say.

They extended their warantee only on the RRoD...

Personnaly, I had to return 2 360s because of faulty drive instead of RRoD... there's not just RRoD in this land of faulty X360...

So yeah, it's not under warantee anymore.

You could tell him to induce an RRoD. M$ will replace the console, and then they'll use the RRoD'd one to fix and send out to somebody else while completely ignoring the DVD drive problem or whatever else, pissing that person off (has happened to me).

ahhhh, yeah I forgot it only covered the RRoD... crap. Well I guess I'll see what he wants to do. He doesn't seem like the type to induce it himself, so I guess I might have to refund.
