Does anyone here know how much the original 1997 version of this game is worth factory sealed?

It's price has dropped big time over the last few years thanks to the Atari re-print. It should still pull at least 50-100 if it were to go up at the right time, but opened copies have gone into the dumper (I got mine for 30 just over a year ago) so thats probably gone into the dumper a bunch as well.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Buyatari foolishly had one listed on ebay for $399. Needless to say he didn't get any bids. Like you said Papastu, the only time that game saw those kind of numbers was before the Atari reprint. It's no longer considered rare when you can buy the reprint factory sealed for $10. But I agree, it should still net you $50-125, but any more than that and someone is wasting their money.

Anyway I see the original release as a big sleeper. Its still very hard to find sealed and could be the hardest ps1 game to find factory sealed. Dragonball was a big impact on children who grew up during that time period and they will remember trying to get ahold of this game. They used to call my store all day long looking for it. I got more calls for that than I did for the Nintendo Wii. While this title did fall out of favor with the reprint when people finally attempt to collect every ps1 game ever made this will be one of the last will need. Its not down for the count its still a PS1 grail.
You have a sealed USA copy for sale at $100 I'll buy it.
Well atleast you didn't waste any money on the listing fees, lol. And no, I didn't try to buy it from you. I knew it would still be yours when your auction ended. As for this being a holy grail--not anymore. Although not as common as most PS1 games, it's much more readily(and now affordably)available than it was 5-7 years ago. You can still find it, just not sealed(very often). I remember two years after the reprint came out a factory sealed one went for $60. I'm glad I didn't buy it because it really isn't worth that much anymore. Above I said it should go for $50-125 but I seriously doubt there are that many people out there that would pay $125 or more for it. I'm a hugh DBZ fan but I wouldn't pay more than $40 for a sealed copy.

I stand by my statement. A sealed original release is a grail. Its true it has cooled off and no one is looking at the moment but they will. Now is the time to buy. There are just not enough to go around for all the DBZ or PS1 collectors. Once they all try to go out and find one the price will reflect it.
I'm definitely with Buyatari on this one... if it's at a low now take advantage of that, because the game is incredibly hard to find. REAL collectors know the difference between this and the Atari re-release and eBay simply confuses the matter, two factors that will ultimately raise the original release quite highly on PS1 collectors' sought-after lists.
Simple. The original release was by Bandai - the rerelease was by Atari. The original release had Goku on the cover looking all constipated and stuff, and the rerelease has him in his SSJ4 form, with a huge chimp in the background.
Game Rave has a picture of both for comparison.
A copy just sold for $300

how much you want to bet it was bid up from people reading this thread?
Yes you are right an opened copy was won by the same bidder at just over $100.

The second one was an auction with a ridiculous starting bid that the buyer still decided to bid on.
In my opinion, it is worth over $100 but there is also no way it is worth the $300 this one sold for. Somewhere in between ($200 or so).
