    Default Another Nintendo prototype

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1373629144

Now come on. First of all by the eBay tag name I qwill assume this is someone who "collects" Nintendo. I will go out on a limb and guess that they know that NES protos are highly sought after.

Now if you were a NES collector and you came across one of these in your travels what is the FIRST thing you would do after you got it home.

    You would plug it in.

Yet the seller doesn't mention if it works or not. Which game it is or if it differs from a released version. I guess we should all assume its Airball and start the bidding at $900.00

He just happend to come across a NES cart with no label and first thing he did was post it on ebay. If you thought for one second that you had a proto you would show that it was indeed a proto so that you could get market value. Only a person who pretty much assumes it isn't a proto would post in this manner.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the auction. Why the hell wouldn't he even test the thing if he thought it was a proto? If you think you have something potentially worth hundreds, why not spend the 5 bucks it would cost for the bit to open it and check? Pretty shady.

I wonder about that too. Wouldn't it be nice if the seller would let someone come over with a NES deck to check the game out. For all I know it's RBI Baseball :P and it's easy to remove the label completely with a little help of Goo Gone.

Well the guy has NES as part of his ebay screen name. If some bennie baby seller was posting this auction you might have a point. No point in running over there with an NES deck or a screw bit for that matter.

    2 possibilities

    1. This guy is a complete idiot. He loves Nintendo but while he does shop on eBay he never realized that people value prototypes. He would rather have a cart with a label on it for gosh sake. If he does know of prototypes value it makes it even worse. Rather than spend the time and/or money to find out if the thing is legit he just says screw it I'll take my $5 for it and call it even.

    2. He either "made it" or knows exactly what it is. By not stating all the facts he hopes to turn a $1 cart into something much more. He is secretly hoping someone will bid on it thinking it may be a prototype. Make a quick buck and repeat the process.

Which of the 2 do you think it is?

and be sure to post his reply if he does reply. Some shady seller has a tendancy to chew out someone like you for that email. Possibly revealing more holes in his auction.
