I always struggle like most people with this sort of thing, but not with number 1. I'll give it a go, though, since my wife is STILL SNORING.

    1. Earthbound (SNES)
    2. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1)
    3. Super Mario World (SNES)
    4. Super Metroid (SNES)
    5. Zelda II (NES)
    6. Final Fantasy III (SNES)
    7. Time Soldiers (Arcade)
    8. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
    9. Contra (NES)
    10. Super Mario 64 (N64)

Pretty vanilla overall, but I get more interesting from 11-20. I could swap the order around here a bunch by day, but no. 1 would stay, and this is probably at least close to what I'd say most days.

Ive played alot of video games, and I dont think I could compose a top ten list without Castlevania SOTN and Final Fantasy III.
Earthbound is also a super fantastic game. It always kinda irks me when people say Earthbound is overrated, because its not. Whenever you find such a game that is so original and well done it is going to get alot of praise, and I think it does deserve it.

I think a lot of people in the last few years have started giving Earthbound backlash due to pricing and as a reaction to its vocal online fanbase, but it's been my favorite game ever since I first played through it, having borrowed it from a buddy in 1995. Sometimes a game just resonates with you, and everything just feels right and captures your imagination, and Earthbound did so with me. I think that sometimes, when a game becomes somewhat mainstream, it loses its "cool" factor for some people. Seems like Symphony of the Night has had some similar backlash in recent years, with some people going so far as to call it the game that ruined Castlevania, but that game is just crazy good. I even went so far as to get every item in the game on a save file once on PS1, and have played through it on Saturn, PSP, and Xbox 360 as well. So much fun!
