Personal Top Ten video/computer games... (at this point in space and time)

Here is my list (in no particular order):

Space Invaders - Any system (2600, PlayStation, GBA) - I just can't get enough of Space Invaders. I still play the old 2600 version every now and then, along with all the other versions I have. You just can't beat playing a really good classic game.

Activision Anthology - GameBoy Advance - This cartridges is just too damn cool. I know some folks have complained that it isn't exactly like the original 2600, but it is close enough for me. I spent countless hours with this one, and am still playing it currently (trying to get all the patches)

Diablo II - Machintosh - This game just totally rocks, even after all these years. I spent most of last summer playing this thing each and every day (for a few hours, not all day!). The graphics, gameplay, and plot are just so well thought out. And it is rather a challenge too - nightmare level!!!

Missile Command 3D - Atari Jaguar - I must first say, that I only like 1/3 of this cart, and that it the virtual mode version. This is why it makes my top 10 list. The virtual, 3D style mode makes me feel like I'm actually in the game, fighting to save the cities from the invading missiles and cool boss creatures (I love that dragon).

Pepper II - ColecoVision - I've played this game more times than I can remember, and I never, ever get tired of playing it. Now that is how a good game works, it just keeps you coming back for more. Plus the unique game play and graphics just make this one of the best.

Wizard of Wor - Atari 5200/Bally - I loved this game in the arcades, and it just rocks at home too (not counting the flickery 2600 version - which is ok too). The game-play is the thing here, as the graphics are limited. This thing is just so addictive.

Burgertime - Intellivision - Walking over the ingredients to make a burger - the board of health would not approve. I do though. Of the earlier systems, I find the Intellivision version to be the best, with good graphics, sounds and excellent control action (with proper joysticks of course). This will be in my top list for a long time.

Pinball of the Dead - I've always liked a good video pinball game, and this is one of the best. Outstanding graphics, sound effects, and more. The fact that you have three pinball boards to choose from, and that they are multi-level just adds to the fun. My only complaint is that it is a tad bit hard to get some of the bonus features to activate in this game - but it's just a small gripe.

Future Cop L.A.P.D - Macintosh - it's an older computer game, but I just get such a kick out of playing this game. The graphics and sounds are killer, and the gameplay could not be better. It's fun being a cop in this game! (Now if they'd come out with an OS X version/patch for this game)

Beamrider - many systems (2600,INVT, COleco, etc) - Not totally sure why I like this game, but I do. And whenever I have the slightly chance to play it, I will - for hours. I'm rather good at this game, and just love the way it plays. Reminds me of Grid Runner for the Vic-20, which I also like.

Man, I hate doing these lists because there are some many that I love a lot. But, like always, I will give it a go
    1. Suikoden 1
    2. Suikoden 2
    3. Fire prowrestling D
    4. King's Field
    5. Metal Gear 1 (NES version)
    6. Metal Gear Solid 1
    7. Metal Gear Solid 3
    8. Legend of Zelda 2
    9. Metroid Prime (I finally played this game yesterday and I was blown away by it. The atomosphere is phenomenal. Dark creepy music mixed with a wonderful first person view that really is like you are looking through Samus' helmet. Great game)
    10. Super Mario All Stars (I had to pick this as I can't pick just one NES Mario game. I love them all to much)

This is a pretty good list in terms of what my all time favorites are. There are a few that I wanted to add but obviously couldn't.

    10. Sakura Taisen (SS)
A lovely hybrid of strategy and dating sim, spiced with steampunk. Original, addictive and fun.

    9. Nethack (PC)
Addictive, hard and extremely annoying at times. It took 2 years to beat it, but it definitely was worth it.

    8. Super Mario Bros. (NES)
The first game I have ever played.

    7. Tetris
Since I tried Tetris for a first time, I have loved puzzle games.

    6. Shining in the Darkness (SMD)
    My first RPG.

    5. Civilization (PC)
I tried this one for a first time about 4 or 5 years ago. On first day I played about ten hours. I would have played more, but it crashed. Now I have tried Civ II & III, but I still prefer the first Civ over them.

    4. Nights (SS)
One of the few games I really, really have waited for. I read all the stories about it on gaming magazines at least ten times, and I bought it almost right after I read a review on magazine. I had very high hopes about this one, but still it could surprise me.

    3. Sonic 2 (SMD)
My first game ever. Can't get tired of playing this one.

    2. Ecco: The Tides of Time (SMD)
I have to admit, after all the praise I had heard, I still was very sceptical about this one. "Could this kind of game really work?" Oh, yes it could. Better than I could have imagined.

    1. 3-Demon (PC)
Yes, 3-Demon. An old, primitive 3d Pac-Man clone. Definitely not the best game I have ever played (Ecco: ToT is), not even close, but still the game I have played most. When I was a kid, I loved this game. Perhaps the only game I have been really "good" at. I tend to suck at games, and never bother to master, but 3-demon was different. I haven't played it for years, thought. Maybe I should try if the charm is still there.

Honorable mentions:Alisia Dragoon (SMD), Romancing Sa-Ga 3 (SFC), Beyond Good & Evil, Burning Rangers (SS)

    Default Top Ten

I have a hard enough time determining a top ten for some particular systems, much less all of them.

    Final Fantasy 7 (PSX)
    Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Arcade)
    Chrono Trigger (SNES)
    Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES)
    Shining Force 2 (Genesis)
    Master of Magic (PC)
Tie Fighter CD Collectors Edition (PC)
    Secret of Monkey Island (PC)
    Doom (PC)

Odd, way more PC games that I thought there would be. Of course, ask me to put together a top ten list next week and I'll probably have 10 different games...
