I would honestly sell it, But if you do wait as years pass it will increase..It's up to you though.
Here I thought the last one on ebay netted close to a grand

Chrono Trigger
On eBay right now you can get a loose Chrono Trigger for $30 - $40. Boxed and complete are going for around $100 - $120. So I could see a Sealed easily being worth $400 if not more.
If you really need the money sell, but otherwise I would keep it as more people are collecting NES/SNES/N64, so the value would keep going up.

Yeah I will probably keep it just to have as my collectors item, if I ever sold it I would probably sell everyting too... but I could easily see in the distant future some rich dude wanting it as a piece of memorabilia from his childhood. One can never underestimate nostalgia and our generation has yet to become rich geezers.
I think the last sealed Chrono Trigger on ebay went for almost $1500. If I were you, I'd sell it and run. If your copy is perfect with no damage to the box or the seal you could get $1000 + easy.

If you actually need the money, like you *NEED* the money, sell it.
If not, hold onto it. The game will only go up in value, as others have stated.
By "need" I mean you need the money because you have bills to pay, student loans to pay off, car payments, etc. Also, if you have a big purchase that you need to make, this could be another good reason. If you're going to sell it and just spend the money on regular everyday stuff, you will regret it very much.
And list it on ebay with a reserve at $750
you missed your chance this past week: ebay had 20 cent listing day. that's the perfect time to throw out your high-dollar items with buy it nows and hope a sucker bites. like others have said, it's only going to go up, so I would hold on to it and just throw it up on ebay for $1500 every time there is a "xx listing day" on ebay. that way, if it sells you just made a ton of money, if it doesn't you aren't out huge fees. of course, if you have an ebay store, then that's a whole different story...
Sealed Chrono Trigger should get much more than $400. I'd say hold on to it for awhile. Like 10 years

Damn now I'm nervous, I'll definitely hold onto it... is there a danger in shrink wrapped items? like, does the shrink wrap damage or bend the cardboard over time, or will it be safely wrapped through the future? Wouldn't want any surprises
I don't think there's any danger as long as you're not storing it next to a furnace or something.
Just keep that baby wrapped up and sell it when you feel comfortable.
I believe a friend of mine spent about $500 for a sealed copy, but that was a couple years ago. You can take that bit of information for whatever it's worth. If someone is offering $400, then they're probably trying to get a pretty good "deal" for themselves. I would imagine you can get more than that.

You'd be surprised how games get stored away in places, found and then circulated years later. A few years ago I was at the flea market where a guy was selling factory sealed NES games for $5 bucks a pop - I ganked SMB1, 2 and 3, Operation Wolf, and TMNT. I asked him where he managed to get them and he told me a friend of his used to own a mom and pop video game store back in the late 80's into the early 90's, packed up alot of stuff and just had it sitting in the attic for all these years.Originally Posted by Nirvana

I remember that sealed one that turned up a few months ago.
It went for $1,465 if I remember correctly....
You should keep it another 5+ years when the price will most likely double/triple.

The thing to remember is that video games don't always go up in value. Even the SNES. 2-3 years ago, one of the rarest couple of Atari 2600 games were Ikari Warriors and Motorodeo. They would literally go for hundreds on eBay. Then a guy in Venezuela or Ecuador or someplace like that came across a warehouse full of them, all NTSC and still sealed. They're worth about $50-$75 now.
One other thing, I used to be able to get over $100 for a complete Atari 2600 system and about 20 carts on ebay. Now I'm lucky to get half that. Seems as though the collectors and retro-gamers have moved on from the Atari to the NES/SNES/N64. That's where they are now. In 5 years, where will they be?
One final thing, Nintendo could put Chrono Trigger on the Virtual Console any time, right? $400 for a sealed game? I'd do it......

On the other hand, that seller is almost certainly a scammer and doesn't even own the item. However, if you sell it from an eBay account with decent feedback and in good standing then you could probably get at least the same.

Up for auction is the Holy Grail of all video games!!
I wouldn't consider this a Holy Grail, maybe one of the most sought after Super Nintendo games but not a Holy Grail.
But yeah, if you can get a legit buyer for over $1000 I'd sell it and invest the grand into something better and spend the remainder on some other games you've really wanted, maybe a wonderful CIB you can actually play.
Otherwise, if you're mainly into collecting sealed games then hang onto it.
