    Default My Magnavox Odyssey collection

I finally got the last thing I've been looking for for years, the Odyssey carrying case. Thanks k8track! I got a bunch of this from mrhaboobi a few years ago but I don't remember if the Singapore catalog came from that lot or not. Anyway I think I have just about everything besides shipping boxes and the blue double-ender cartridge. The second console and the extra parts will be for sale/trade in the future. Here's some pics:

1TL200 BLAK Run 1 console S/N 7773659 "renewed". Came from New Zealand but I think it's a standard US console. Large sticker sheet, pink screens on instructions. Stickers unused, chips sealed, original batteries.

Percepts...you lucky, lucky bastard. That's a mighty fine collection if I do say so myself.

I don't think Percepts is that rare but it's just like the carrying case, nobody ever sells it separately. The envelope or box or whatever it is is rare. You have to keep buying Odyssey systems to get the extras. I forgot to say before that I have the rifle boxed but it's still in storage.

Very nice, you're right Percepts is not that rare, but the box for it is (plain cardboard box the size of game box with serial# stamped onto it). Also you might want to hunt out the Apex blue double-ender card (7&8).
    Other than that, excellent collection.
David Winter might be interested in a scan of the Singapore manual for his Pong-story.com website to add to the database.

Glad you got everything OK and are happy with it, Toby! Now all you need to do is form a Local Area Magnavox Enthusiasts of Oregon and get others to join.

Of course, with an acronym like LAME-O, you've got your work cut out for you. (It's anything but lame!)

Was there a shipping box for the carrying case?

I need the Percepts box too. I believe I have most of the rest.

I have a spare set (haven't counted pieces yet) but it is missing only the proprietary video cable - I think it has the RF box. Any suggestions on getting one? Oh, idea, I should buy an old Magnavox Pong to get at one of those.

Go figure...my Odyssey has the cable but is missing the RF box.

@tom- I would love one of those Apex cards but I think other people have way more to spend on that kind of stuff than I do. I thought I was going to win the first one that showed up but I was outbid by hundreds at the last second. David Winter knows I have that catalog I was supposed to scan it ages ago but I just got it out storage.

@k8track- I'll let you be an honorary member of LAME-O even if you don't own an Odyssey anymore.

@ianoid- I think there's a shipping box for the console, carrying case and 6 add-on games. I'd love to have them but I'm not going to keep buying the same stuff over and over to get them. I haven't checked the old Odyssey pongs to see what kind of cable or rf switch they have. I have an Odyssey 2 cable that has the standard plug on one end and the original Odyssey style on the other. That way I can use a standard rf switch or one of those coax adapter thingies. If you need any other parts let me know.

Yep, I always get outbid in the last second.

There's also a shipping box for the four 1973 range of games, which included two 1972 games, to make a six game pack

awsome pictures, great collection. If you try to collect anything older and game related, the things might be made out of wood and stone! Gosh current video games are missing that fell good 70s love vibe to them. Heck if I get any more nostalgic, I am going to have to read my pong manual! Congrats on a very professional and well put together collection. Awsome.

@swlovinist- John you crack me up. Jeanne and I went to Deals 2 U or whatever that disgusting thrift store in Longview is the other day. We made it out with some Legos and our lives. Last time some employee was getting ready to fight a customer in the parking lot for stealing a dog carrier or something.

@Andrew Davie- I don't need a Run-1B console. I'm only keeping one console, the first one pictured. Keeping variations of consoles is the kind of thinking that lead to me having a storage unit that I'm paying $100 a month for. Hopefully I'll be moving it all to my work's garage soon so I'll have $100 more a month to spend on games.

I really like the artwork on the overlays. Awhile ago I was holding the haunted house overlay up to the tv and there was a commercial on that had some flashing lights and it looked so cool. I want to make some kind of shadow box with a random flashing light like lightning. The commercial turned out to be for Rob Zombie's Halloween which I thought was fitting.

wow, I'm fairly jealous of your collection Y-bot.

I just bought a run 2 Odyssey yesterday but it is missing the Game Cord and Antenna-Game Switch so I'm not able to play it yet.

Would anyone here happen to have a spare game cord and switch that they'd be willing to sell me?
Or does anyone know what I could possibly use to replace it?

Sorry to kind of hijack the thread like this, but I'm starting to get a bit desperate. I'm hoping I'll find a solution eventually.

Some Odyssey 2 systems and I think the other Odyssey pongs have a cable that has the plug like the original Odyssey on one end and a standard RF style plug inside the console. If you can find one of those you can use a standard Atari style RF switch or one of those coax to RF adapters.
