Default any more rpgs for PS2?

Does anybody know if the PS2 is done with the whole RPG genre? is there anymore Atlus games or anything comming out for it or was Growlancer thier last one? I want more console Atlus titles. Thier handheld games are good too but I'd rather see home console games released.

NIS is releasing Mana Khemia in March. Will be in a ultra limited "Scholarship" box set with only 1,000 copies made:

The word on CAG is that there's around 4,000 sets left.

    400 sets left.

Site says 1,000 total produced, so the only number that would make sense there is 400.

I posted about Mana Khemia in a thread with some clarifications about the sets last night:

    http://www.digitpress.com/forum/show...t=73673&page=6

I only know about Baroque and Mana Khemia, scheduled for mid-February and mid-March respectively. So far these games seem to be the only RPGs for the PS2 scheduled. (I hope it will come to an end at some point, I'm missing only two games for a complete RPG collection)

The unique thing about Mana is that there will be two distinct deluxe sets, one of them an exclusive with a figure from the online retailer Rosenqueen. It mightbe that this one will be hard to get in around a year for a reasonable price.

That's why I did something I only did once in the last five years: I pre-ordered a game. (Lowers his head in shame)

well with a print run of only 1000 of course I just pre-ordered one. Thats the kinda thing R8s are made of everybody. I bet this will become one of the hardest to find PS2 games. Thanks for pointing that game out to me, I bet this game will be hard to get at a reasonable price as well.

After reading the posts above, I knew this would happen. You've misunderstood. Mana Khemia is not limited to 1000. Just the version with the figure (and other items) is limited. The other version is "limited" in name only. It will be produced in the tens of thousands like any other "limited" JRPG from Nippon Ichi.

Yeah, unless you're dead set on getting that figure, which looks well-made but is still basically a generic anime girl, I think you'll be fine saving the 10 bucks and getting the "normal deluxe" set. :P In terms of the game alone, I don't think anyone needs to panic thinking they need to preorder this very second.

No one has mentioned Chaos Wars? Maybe because there's a good chance that it ultimately won't come out, but if stuff like Chulip can make it, anything can. It's a strategy RPG a la Namco x Capcom, in that it's a crossover filled with characters pulled from tons of different games by different developers. It's developed by Idea Factory, with involvement with Atlus, Aruze, and Red Entertainment, and it has characters pulled from Shadow Hearts, GunGrave, Growlanser, and many more titles.

right I see that it isn't the game won't be limited by itself but isn't this box set an official PS2 release or is it just something that the people at Rosenqueen put together themselves? I'd say if its an official PS2 release and not just an aftermarket bundle, it could be one of those hard to find editions later down the road (such as Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence LE). Maybe not as in demand as a title like that but with all the pieces together in the box could be worth it for PS2/RPG collectors.

That's right. The game will be released in a box like so many recent RPGs for the PS2 (Persona 3, Wild Arms 5, Ar tonelico) with some extra content (a mini-poster and a soundtrack CD). Retail price is $39.99. This one won't be hard to get at all, and patience to get it will pay off financially. (exceptions apply, like Persona 3)

If patience is good advice in case of the exclusive Rosenqueen release is doubtful. Might be, might not be. The limited print run (1000, at least so it says) plus the experience with the exclusive dot hack GU Volume 1 box with figurine from Gamestop suggests that the price will go up after the release. It might be that ebay sellers get a lot of this edition, and the price won't increase. But I doubt it.

The Rosenqueen release is only worthwhile if you want a complete RPG collection with all variations, and/or if you love little figurines in nice looking boxes. (and admittedly the box looks playfully 'charming,' or is that an insult to masculine RPGamers?)

Too bad that the Rosenqueen release doesn't contain the regular outer box, would have saved us some money. Well, life is unfair to RPG fanatics.

It is as much an 'official' PS2 release as other deluxe sets limited to and distributed by one retailer. It is not just a bundle like so many pre-order offers consisting of bonus items separate from the actual game. What makes it an own version is that it comes in its own box with additional content (the figurine), whereas the soundtrack CD and mini-poster in the two versions are identitical, same goes of course for the actual game in the plastic case. The regular deluxe cardboard box other retailers will offer is different from this one.

I almost forgot...in the "rumor" section of the latest issue of EGM they say the FES special edition of Persona 3 is getting a US release in 2008. Take it for what it's worth.

This isn't related to the Mana series of games, is it? I have a PS2, and I love it, but I don't really "collect" for the PS2. So I'm going to resist getting this "deluxe edition" simply because it's not common, unless it's a real Mana game.

No it's part of the Atelier Iris series.

Well that is highly misleading then. SE should put a trademark on that sheezy. I'll be passing on this one.

Damn, I forgot about Baroque and didnt even know about Mana Khemia, but thanks to this thread, I now have some more PS2 RPGs to look forward to! (Hopefully Persona: FES is also a reality).....

Off hand, any listed differences yet between the PS2 and Wii versions? I'm still gonna lean towards the PS2 version, but just wanna know.....
Mika: Where are you taking me, Gillian?
Gillian: To look at videos on YouTube...
Mika: *sigh* No more videos of a drunk Harry dancing with a dead Snatcher...
Giliian: Nope, it's better...Its LiquidPolicenauts YouTube Videos!
Gillian: And after that, you should also visit
