I happened to be out today near a Blockbuster. I had not been in one in a long time, so I went in to see if I could find a good deal. After looking through the used-rental games, I noticed a clearance table with containers on it. There probably wasn't anything good in them, I was thinking, but I looked anyway. After going through two containers of games, I end up at the next one. RIGHT THERE is a copy of Fatal Frame 3! I pick it up, and my jaw drops LITERALLY to the floor when my eyes hit the price tag:
$15.99!!
Completely suprised by this find, I take it to the counter so I can take a look at the disc. The case was a "locked" Blockbuster case, so I was kinda reluctant to get it without the official case. The guy opens it, and to my next surprise, the booklet is there in PERFECT shape. He then lets me hold the disc, and this was even more surprising: this rented/used game was NEAR perfect. There are a few surface marks, but you can barely notice them. So far, the deal was looking good. The outer cover slip was even there, which made this a complete package except for the case.
I give it back to the guy, he locks the case back up, and I go and put it back into the bin.
I figured I should scout out an official empty case to transfer the game to. (I know, I should have bought the game first)
After a while, I am now at Gamestop. You all know how they put empty cases up on the shelf with little advertising slips in them? I looked through any that I could find. Low and behold, one of them was an official case. I bring it up to the counter and ask if I could purchase it. The guy says no, but then he takes the slip out and says that I can have it!
Thanking him, I head back to Blockbuster.
After ending up back in the clearance bin, I luckily find FF3 right where I put it back down. I bring it back up to the guy, buy it, and transfer the game and case contents to the official case. Now I have a minty complete copy of Fatal Frame 3 that I bought for $15.99!
Good deal? I think so, considering a copy went for over $46 just today on eBay.
