that the f*ck does the patch contest have to do with any thing?

i never said any of the earlier posts are bad and EXCUSE me for not living in an area where theres old consoles flying out of ever crack in the wall. i do realize the prices we pay for things does deal with the local economy + whats available but when your paying upwards of $50 for a loose game even if its some holy grail thing its not super great.

$50 is still alot of money for a game, i dont think i have bought any one older game item used for more than $50.

super great is mailmans chuck wagon for $5 or jeffg's Aerofighters for $4 or your jvc junk for a freakin buck.

I was 2 blocks from a yard sale that started at 8.00am they was there all day. I decide to go at the end of the day and ask you have any old games. He pulls out a box of nes and genesis games with an old nes on top and says I will take 15 for the box. He said it is missing the cables I really wasn't expecting anything so I said fine.

Drove around the week end. On tuesday i start digging through the box and what do i find a complete sega cdx mint and working. 7 sega cd games at the bottom of the box. I had been looking for 1 for years . Lesson of the day never let that happen again at least check the yard sale out.

I almost cried when I thought about how I almost missed out someone could have easily picked that up.

I picked up a xcom ufo defense for 10.00 at a pawn.

I won a turbo duo and military madness 2 years ago super bowl sunday for 152.00. AT the time they were going for 300-400 The auction ended when the game ended every one was distracted. I was very happy.

I got a valkrye profile for 30.00 buy it now.

    Few years ago I got
    dalkstalkers
    street fighter zero 3
    king of the fighters
    world heroes perfect
    marvel super heroes vs streetfighter
    xmen vs streetfighter
and a fatal fury game for the gameboy All complete with 4meg carts for 75.00 buy it now

Just recently, I picked up a factory-sealed Super Mario Bros. for $200... About a week later, this happened:

    Holy. Crap.

Back in '03, I bought a Super Famicom in the "broken" pile at my local Hard-Off, (back in Japan). It had all the wires and a controller as well. Paid 500 yen for it (~$5), got a game for it, hooked it up and it worked perfectly.

Back from 2004: minty and complete

Okay, so the clever ones will catch the 'employee discount' and call foul....but in fact, this was NOT my store! (and from the days pre-edge card!) I've kept this reciept to this day due to its epicness. The other items on the list are all also SegaCD games, too!

I just picked up a Nintendo 64 for $20. There was a pile of them at Hard Off for that.

Wait, what's this? Oh, that little attachment?

    <smork looks closer>

Oh shit, that's a 64+ 64DD unit for $20! Same price as the unit with no 64DD.

Yeah, that got bought. Works, too.

I'm still waiting to find a PS1 Valkyrie Profile for $5-$10. That would be nice.

I'd have to say the best deal I ever got was a Sega CDX in the box mint with all the trimmings... $10 at a pawn shop! It was a steal I tells yah!

Plus most of my Sega Master System collection was acquired at $5 dollars a game from unsuspecting department store clerks. I can't tell you how many BRAND NEW SEALED SMS games I got because I convinced the salesman that they were obsolete and that the store shouldn't even be selling them.

All cartridge based games are loose unless noted as otherwise:

    Earthbound - $3 at a Flea Market
Virtual Boy - $10 at GoodWill
Mike Tyson's Punchout Complete/Near Mint - $5 at another Flea Market
    Vectrex w/ 3 Games - $40 at semi-local Play 'N Trade
Mars Matrix - $7 at Level Up (local game store)
Alundra - $3 at thrift store, complete with map and everything.
    Atari 7800 w/ approximately 42 games - $10 at Level Up
Final Fantasy VII (Greatest Hits) - Traded for Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen
Gunstar Heroes Game Gear CIB - $11 on eBay
Neutopia - Free. Won it in a bet against my father. He said I couldn't beat the boss he was stuck on in Zelda: Minish Cap on my first try. I could.
Neutopia - $3 at Level Up
Approximately 15 CIB US SMS Games - $20 at Thrift Store
Panic Restaurant - Around $1.67. Bought in a lot of about 15 NES games.
    Odyssey2 w/ 6 Games - $10 at Level Up
Super Smash Bros. - Free. Brother left it in my room for over a month and said I could keep it.
    Super Mario All-Stars - $0.50 at GoodWill

Not sure how "crazy good" the Gunstar Heroes on Game Gear is, but I'm proud of it and it's one of my favorite games.

NES - Stadium Events for 5 at a pawn shop
NES - NTF2 Test Cart for 1.99 at Value Village
2600 - Quadrun for 5 bucks at a yard sale pawn store
    2600 - Swordquest Waterworld for 1.99 at a Bookmans
Intellivision - Diner Complete for 1.99 at a comic/used game store
Saturn - Guardian Heroes Complete for 9.99 at Gamecrazy

300+ Genesis boxes for 80 bucks
2000+ SNES Boxes for 120 bucks

The huge amount of boxes was from a closing video game store out in Arcadia in AZ. I still have MANY of them today that I've been too lazy to sell. I've made complete games out of almost all the genesis ones, and I haven't started filling the SNES ones at all, I've only pulled what I've wanted to keep. Out of the 3 lots of snes ones I sold a few years back, I made nearly 1k off them, selling at 300+ a lot. It's probably been one of my most worthwhile investments, hehe.

I've never had a "crazy good find", but I've had two particular thrift store finds that made me happy:

    1) Link: Faces of Evil (CD-i) for $3.48
    2) Genny Model 2 with a Sega CD attached for $4.99

I'm still looking for that one day that nets me a big steal. Until then....
