Hey guys, out of curiosity, does my Super Gameboy for the SNES play Gameboy Color games as well as classic Gameboy games? Thanks for your input in advance!

These pretzels are making me thirsty!!
It won't play any GBC games that are exclusively for the Gameboy Color (indicated by a clear plastic cartridge). The hardware is different.
Only the cartridges that were designed for both, like Pokemon Blue and Red. Otherwise, the North American SGB only plays original GB games. I don't remember what there was with the SGB2 (pardon link capability perhaps).
Correct and as indicated from the guide.Originally Posted by DP Rarity guide

Would you say then that most of the Gameboy Color games don't play in the Super Gameboy? For example, I won't be playing GTA on my SNES anytime soon, will I? Is there a way to find out without viewing the actual cartridge if it will work on it or not? Thank you for your guys promptness on the previous inquiry.

Yes. The DP guide has a wealth of information on games.Originally Posted by DP Rarity Guide: Grand Theft Auto (GBC)

I actually didn't know that it didn't work untill the other day when i put my gbc game in and it said please use a gbc thanks. I thought it was kinda funny that they put that message in.
if its a grey or black original gameboy cartridge it will work with the sgb, if its the clear cased games it will not work.
Isn't it also true that the old Game Genie won't work for games with any GBC features? I know it'll handle Pokemon Red/Blue fine, but not sure about Yellow.
If you play a lot of newer gameboy games maybe look into getting a gamecube and the gameboy player accessory. Same concept as the SGB but better. The Gameboy player can be found for 19.99 at Gamestop and gamecubes are going cheap on craigslist. I've seen some for as cheap as $10-15 with one controller.
