AVGNs movie is finally being released this year. Any thoughts on how cheesy, bad or even funny it will be? Even though I enjoy most of his videos, I think this is just going to be terrible.
I haven't been following any of this stuff for a long time but randomly got a notification about this thread so forgive me...
I had heard something about the movie losing steam because Atari really did dig up the ET cartridges, but I'm still excited for it!
They dug up SOME ET carts, not the millions people claimed. There were all sorts of carts dumped there, ET wasn't too big of a percent of them.
I'm expecting him to review ET, say it's not as bad as everyone thinks, and 70% of the "I hate ET because I'm too dumb to read how to play it" all change their mind and claim to always liked it.
Then again I say him and Mike playing Star Master, and they couldn't figure out that game. They were just flying around the intro area, didn't figure out how to bring up the map and warp to a fight.
It's pretty impressive how popular AVGN still is. No panel at Too Many Games got as much attention as his. People were lined up back into the market place to see this guy.
Just goes to show you he's doing something right.

Seems as though this is the AVGN guest staring in one of Pat's episodes. Like Pat in the AVGN Nintendo World Championship episode.

Ooh, there are movie dates now! It's coming to Montreal next month!

I found AVGN to be pretty funny more so than his last videos, Pat on the other hand is just lame as usual.

All the first dozen or so dates are sold out. Just added another dozen.

While he isn't always on point, Pat can be quite funny in some of his reviews. The shows with R.O.B. in them were really funny with the disdain the plastic robot had for Pat. Also, he is purposely being "cheesy" in some of his humor, which can be pretty funny. If that doesn't float your boat, though, that's perfectly fine.
Is Pat always this terrible?
He's not a good actor.

I think the "Pat the NES Punk" character is supposed to be a sort of acid-brain-damaged goofball. He has a sort of stilted deliberate delivery. Funny how the "punk" character is so tame compared to the "nerd" character in language and behavior.
Neither is James's Rolfe if I'm completely honest. He's adequate for what he does with the Nerd character, but he's much better at the whole writing/directing thing.
I like Pat, a lot. The guys a cool cat, and knowledgeable about what he does. His acting pretty hammy, and I often skip his longer non-game related segments in his videos. But again, he gets the job done when he's in front of the camera.
EDIT: Also, Pat & Ian's podcast is FANTASTIC
