Anyway, Good video. Interesting to see such an old dinosaur and all the crap that went along with it.

I thought Kyle Justin was gonna come back from behind the couch again at first, and I have to say that would've been a little better than the turd.

I think he just wanted to try the effect.

Glad to see the gun getting some more exposure, it is a really neat accessory. Also cool to see the games actually being played since I was always a couple peices short of being able to actually play mine.

It's HIGHLY UNLIKELY The Nerd knew anything about it either before the video.

You mean he didn't know about something before he learned about it? I can't believe it!

I wish he showed us some of the gameplay with the gun instead of ending it, I'm kinda curious to see how it works.

I once had some Etch-a-Sketch overlays that worked kinda like that. Those things were awesome... and I bet they were a whole lot cheaper in 1972 as well.

I imagine you fire the gun at the little white dot while someone else moves it around on the screen. (Although considering that there's no sound or evidence of scorekeeping, I do wonder how it would register a hit, come to think of it.)

For comedy, today's video wasn't great. For demonstrating Odyssey games, I thought it was really interesting. I haven't seen a real Odyssey, and the video was really educational.

And it's not like he was trashing the system either. He called it primitive, but... I mean, it was primitive.

True dat. I found the piece o crap character annoying, but I imagine there is no single video on the internet with as many Odyssey games played and features explained.

No, I mean he didn't know about it until recently. I love his videos, but he is no video game historian. Hell, he wasn't even born when it was released.

You don't have to be born and live through something to be a historian of a subject, if that were the case there would be no historians for any event prior to 100 years ago(give or take). He doesn't go into details with his videos but he probably knows more than he mentions, he just keeps it simple for most viewers as it's mostly for entertainment.

It wasn't one of his best videos, but it was about average. I really could have done without that piece of poo as the second player.

Hey, he tries. I very much doubt there's a true video game historian. If there are (I'm pretty sure I may be wrong on this (My guess DreamTR could be one)) very few must exsist. Mainly because I don't see the practicality of having all that knowledge. Also, I have seen people who claim to be historians of videogames that I have been able to smoke out with my knowlage.

I guess that adds to me skepticizm.

Agreed.. I was kinda expecting the guy who preformed the intro theme to make another appearance. I would've preferred that.

Always wanted to see the Odyssey game play, now I know I wasn't missing much. The rifle is one of the coolest features though. Hopefully Nerd Turd is done making appearances, quite annoying/boring for an AVGN character.

I don't see the point in berating a system from 1972, which commenters seem to be doing more than the video did.

But anyway, there was a segment on the panel game show I've Got a Secret from 1972 where guest Rod Serling and host Steve Allen were playing tennis without an overlay. It's interesting to see actual 1972 reactions to it. I think I have it on tape somewhere, but unfortunately, it's not on YouTube.

You're right, you don't have to live through it. I myself wasn't born when the Odyssey came in in March 1972 (I think that's the date). My problem with him is I would bet the farm he's a recent convert. I really don't think he knows that much about anything before the NES. However, he did do a pretty decent job in his last video, minus the

There are a quite a few. I can tell you this, the admin of this board Joe certainly is. I'd like to consider myself one, but no where on the same level as Joe and several others on here and elsewhere.

The nerd finds a great balance between comedy and educational stuff in his vids. One week its all about the funny, the next it's all about the facts. I enjoyed this Odyssey video, as I too had no knowledge of how it worked. Everything James has put out has been valuable on some level.

As usual, I don't agree with anyone in this thread as I found the turd to be pretty funny.
