To me, "Plumbers Dont Wear Ties" looks like an FMV project that went through a big, "Superman IV - The Quest for Peace" style screwover. Thats when the company that is in control of the project continuously cuts staff and budget to the point where sll you have at the end of a deadline is a trashy, broken mess of a product not even worthy of public viewing or use.

I imagine somewhere along the way, someone in management must have said "That sounds like such a great idea, I don't even need to see it! I just know it's going to sell! (Look at the size of that rack!)"

That's pretty amazing. Apparently, The Perfect General is a semi-decent titles with horribly bad FMV sequences. At least it sounds like they actually made a GAME that time. I'm still really curious to know how Plumbers came about tho. It just really seems like the type of thing that anyone would be embarassed to show other people.

I love the link you posted to Theodore Serafica's website. Did he work on Plumbers or Perfect General, or both? I think this line from his resume is particularly telling: "Worked with programmers to come up with methods to optimize visual content using limited hardware/software resources." But maybe I'm just reading more into it than what's actually there.

I don't think they made The Perfect General, as that game was made in 1991 and apparently published by Quantum Quality Productions. Kirin may have ported it to the 3DO though.

Well, my top3 favorite video game review by AVGN differ. In my humble opinion, I think your list of the top 3 best AVGN reviews is based on what you consider the worst video games ever made, not on a particularity you like of these reviews.

For example, I consider to the best reviews those I do like to watch over and over again, and for this reason my top 3 didn't certainly include the one about E.T.

I did watch many times the reviews about Superman 64, bible games (first one), ninja turtles and some others... but only once (or twice) the reviews about Mr. Hide, E.T., Double Vision, etc.

I do want to watch again the new review about the 3DO game, because I can't believe my eyes this video game does exist... and the way he presents it is entertaining.

So, my top 3 differ from your top 3, and that's fine... but I can't consider E.T. review as his top videogame reviews of all time.

Someone should make a sequel with similar gameplay from the viewpoint of the developers trying to make the game, where the ultimate losing outcome sees the game produced as it was. They could call it "Ties Wear, Don't Plumbers?"

I actually thought his most recent review was one of his best, if anything because of how obscure the game was. You know he's almost always going to review a bad game, so why waste time reviewing a bad game everyone knows is bad?

If he did an E.T. review it would be pointless; you know exactly what he would say.

Sure, but it'd still be funny. The Spoony One did an ET review and I really enjoyed it. It's more about the entertainer than the game anyway.

I swear that PDWT for the 3DO had some of the worst music I have ever heard. Its torturous. Sounds like some really cheesy early-90s infomercial for the spray-on toupe.

Well, the music and the creepy title screen from the dark ages of cheap video editing. It did give us a great dramatic line though...
