Default What Postal scale do you have?

I figure if I'm going to be selling a lot more of my collection this year I had better get a scale so I don't have to go to the post office to mail everything. That said what scales do you all have out there?

I was thinking about picking this one up after work:

Seems like it would work well enough.

It's probably fine. I have an el cheapo from eBay... Something like $20 shipped. Haven't had any claims for insufficient postage yet.

I have an ex2 by royal. Simple and pretty cheap. I've had comments at the PO that I must have a pretty good scale, since I'm always right on (that's on the int'l stuff that I can't just print out at home, but have to fill in weight for the customs form).

The only problem with this scale is with large boxes that hang over the readout. You either have to be quick since there is a little delay before it goes back to zero, or get a flashlight to see under there. It is perfect for a typical sized bubble mailer, which is what I use 95% of the time.

edit: I initially got mine to weigh out my home-grown hops, for which I needed at least .1 oz increments. That one you linked to is probably fine for postage, but I'm always a bit wary about Harbor Freight.

I use the blue one that allows up to 10 lbs. from the Post Office. It was like $35 but I didn't have time to order one form eBay. It is extremely accurate, also down to .1 oz.

    Cool

the post office scale is the best in my opinion, thats what i use, cause if you get it from p.o
you can get upgraded chips for the scale as the postage go's up......and you want a least a
    ten pound scale.............

I've got an old old post office scale that I got from goodwill for 50 cents. It's like a larger kitchen scale. The prices on it are wrong but I just type the weight into usps.com

I've also got some of those bendy metal things that touch the table when they reach the marked weight. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? They seem to work pretty well for some items.

I have an ultraship ultra 55. Bought it from a dealer on ebay new and cheap. Been using it for over a year and never had any problems. It also comes with several attachments . Actually one of the best bargains I have found on ebay.

here is one like mine from the same dealer I bought from.

eh, gives him a little personality and probably makes people remembr him. Kind of like Robin Williams, he is annoying as hell but you never forget him.

Here's the one I've got. It's some J Quality scale. I haven't had any issues with it. I think I paid under $20 shipped.

Bathroom. Good enough for Ben Heckendorn and besides, I can hold something in my hand and judge the weight almost perfectly each time.

I use our food scale that we've got (great to the .00 oz, good up to 5 pounds). I've had no problems with the few things i've weighed using it. It was 20 bucks at Bed Bath & Beyond.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

I'm talking about stuff like boxed Odyssey II consoles, system bundles, things like that. Lately I'm all about flat rate boxes which of course don't matter when it comes to weight.

wait a minute...you people use a scale and don't just guess the weight. If I want a rough estimate on a larger item, I just use the bathroom scale.

I bought a digital scale on eBay. It doesn't print up postage, but it is very accurate with the weight. I then go to USPS.com and enter the weight and location for shipping rate.

    Same here.
I use it nearly everyday, and has always been accurate.
The only thing I don't like, is when the scale is on for a while with no weight on it, the scale adds .01 ounces about every 30 seconds. I just turn it off and back on again, to reset the scales.

You really don't need accuracy down to .1 ounce though. Shipping cost rounds up the the nearest pound. Those fancy scales, to me anyways, are just a waste of money.
