Whenever bidding for anything you have to ask yourself "what's the highest amount I'm willing to pay?" Put that in as your proxy bid and let Ebay bid for you. If it goes above your highest bid then you can be comfortable knowing that someone was just willing to pay more than you were rather than you "lost out." But when you bid, ask yourself this: "If someone bids $1 higher than I do, would I bid an extra $2?" That sounds ridiculous but there has to be a maximum where even one more dollar is too much. That's how people get into trouble. They think it's just one more dollar but they do that 50 times. Now they're in the hole $50 more than they wanted to be. Casino slot machines make a killing by taking advantage of this bad habit.

A little perspective can be helpful, too. A video game isn't worth going broke for.

I've had my eye on this one all week too. Was willing to go past $100 but $255 is ludicrous. It probably won't stop there either. I don't think I've ever seen one go that high.

One of your mistakes was bidding on it 4-5 days early, but yeah, it's good to know your limit ahead of time, and stick to it. It's a good thing you dropped out of that bidding race, because that is too much.

My gosh, I had heard it was fairly rare but had no idea it was worth THAT much. Would almost consider selling mine for that. Almost However consider possibilites, since one is going for that much perhaps other sellers might notice and put others up for sale. And usually the later ones don't go for as much as the original. So you might get one cheaper. But who knows..........

wow thanx, you cleared my head. Originally I set a limit of 150.00 in my head, which I thought I'd win it for. It is the last piece I need. But hearing all you guys, you are so right. Thanx for ending my mental breakdown!

Yup, know your limit - just don't show your hand until the very end.

It usually doesn't go $250, really that's pretty insanely high. I'd put fair Value on it at about $125. Master System stuff can fluctuate a lot, sometimes it can be had dirt ball cheap, and if someone really wants something you se something like this.

that's true, a "TRUE" us sonic is probably the toughest game to get. ebay is filled with so many european imports though it's hard to tell what you're getting.

Well, at least the shipping for the game is reasonable.
